Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator

Open Question

I have a ge modle gshf5kgxccww serial #hs417237 99 deg on refrig side -8 on the freezer side, no fan blowing in the refrig side, replaced main board and temp sensors, no change

Compressor is running, freezer is at -8 and the refrigerator side is at 99 and actually starts worming up after it's plugging it in. freezer side is set to 0 deg. and the refrigerator is set to 34 deg. I paid some guy to fix it he said it needed a new main board. So I bought one and put it in, and it made no difference. The instructions said to cut the #2 wire on the 9 pin connector. But it said to do that only if I had bottom freezer. I do not. I have a side by side. So I did not do that. I also bought a new temp sensor. I switched it with each sensor on the refrigerator side. It did not change anything.

On Feb 20 I removed the defrost heater, still doing the same thing. The fan in the freezer side is running. The fan is not pushing the cold air into the refrigerator side.
I took it all apart to see if there was a flapper door that was not opening, stuck or had some thing stuck in it. there was no door, It's wide open into the refrigerator side. I have not replaced the temp sensor on the evaporator in the freezer side

Yes you will need to cut the wire the directions states all bottom freezer models and models with certain serial numbers... But you will not need to do other modifications specifically for bottom freezer only models.

Ge freezer temp changes from -3 to 44degs and the ice melts and runs on the floor. I replaced the main board about 2 yrs ago, help?

Self defrost mechanism appears to be ok sinc eyou can get down to -3 degrees. The culprit in this refrigerator is the temperature regulator or electronic thermostat in this box. It should not allow the temp to swing that drastically from one extreme to another.

GE Monogram ZISB36DYB Freezer Not Cold Enough; Burning Center

Pull the refrig out , and remove the panel at the bottom , on the back . Behind this panel , will be the compressor and condenser " roll " coil , and the condenser fan motor . From your description of the problem , the fan motor in not operating , or the coils are extremely clogged with dust . If the fan motor is not operating , the most likely cause , is the main control board . You can try replacing the motor first , but , the board is most likely the cause . This is the electronic board , behind the 8 " X 10 " panel , behind the refrig also . If you remove the panel , and look at the board closely , You may see a burned part ( resistor ) . However , replacing the burnt part , will not solve the problem . The complete board will need to be replaced .

Neither side will cool

If there is no frost on the rear wall , inside the freezer , then the main control board is bad . This board , is located behind the refrig , behind an 8 " X 10 " panel . The part number is WR55X10656 . This board , probably has a burnt compressor module , keeping the compressor from running . The board is easily replaceable .

Gsl25jfpa bs fridge is warm on top and frozen on bottom and freezer is warm

It sounds like the fan in the freezer is not working , to circulate air , and the coldness is just dropping . This will cause the icemaker to stop working first , then the top portion of the refrig next . As this coldness drops , the lower portion of the fridge ( crispers ) , will freeze . The main control board , causes the fan , not to run . Part Number WR55X10656 . The main control board , is located , behind the refrig , behind an 8 " X 10 " , small panel . There is usually a burnt resistor on the board , which is connected to the fan . Unfortunantly , the whole board will need to be replaced . It is easily replaceable . Doesn't take any special knowledge . All the plugs 6 or 7 , each fit the pin plug designed for it .

What turns on the evaporator fan? I have a 5 year old GE profile bottom freezer fridge. I have discovered that the defrost timer is faulty. The defrost heater works and the evaporator coils frost up ok...

The main control board is probably the problem . Part number WR55X10656 . This board controls the operation of the fan motors and everything else on the refrig . This is also the " defrost timer " . However , the coils frosting up , is probably because the fan motor is not pulling air across them . Not because of a faulty " defrost timer " . This board is located on the back of the refrig , behind an 8"X10" panel . Usually a resistor burns out relating to the fan motor operation . Cannot replace the resistor , only the board .

GE Model GSS25TGNB CC died

If you do not see frost on the inside rear wall of the freezer , Poll the refrig out from the wall , and remove the back panel covering the compressor . If the compressor is not running , Remove the 8" X 10 " panel , just above the large panel first removed . Unplug the refrig . Remove the control board , and on the other side of the board ( soldered side ) , look just behind the small black boxes ( located on the other side ) and look for a joint which has become unsoldered . Resolder this spot and reinstall the board . Plug the refrig back in , and see if compressor starts . OR , you can replace the control board pt # WR55X10656 .
