Free usb reboot

You might want to boot from a USB device, like an external hard drive or a flash drive, for many different reasons.
When you boot from a USB device, what you're actually doing is running your computer with the operating system that's installed on the USB device. When you start your computer normally, you're running with the operating system installed on your hard drive - Windows, Linux, etc.

How To Boot From a USB Device
Change the BIOS boot order so the USB device option is listed first. The BIOS is rarely setup this way by default.
If the USB boot option is not first in the boot order, your PC will start "normally" (i.e. boot from your hard drive) without even looking at any boot information that might be on your USB device.
Tip: The BIOS on most computers list the USB boot option as USB or Removable Devices but some confusingly list it as a Hard Drive option, so be sure to dig around if you're having trouble finding the right one to choose.
Note: After setting your USB device as the first boot device, your computer will check it for boot information each time your PC starts. Leaving your computer configured this way shouldn't cause problems unless you plan on leaving the bootable USB device attached all the time.
Attach the USB device to your computer via any available USB port.
Note: Creating a bootable flash drive or configuring an external hard drive as bootable is a task in itself. Chances are you made it to my instructions here because you know whatever USB device you have should be bootable after properly configuring BIOS.

  • Restart your computer.
  • Watch for a Press any key to boot from external device... message.
  • On some bootable devices, you may be prompted with a message to press a key before the computer will boot to the flash drive or other USB device.
  • If you do nothing, your computer will check for boot information on the next boot device in the list in BIOS (see Step 1) which will probably be your hard drive.
Note: Most of the time when trying to boot to a USB device there is no key-press prompt. The USB boot process usually starts immediately.

  • Your computer should now boot from the flash drive or USB based external hard drive.

Usb boot

Go into the BIOS settings then to the device Boot Order.
If USB device is listed in the boot order then you can move the USB as the first boot device.
If the USB device is not listed then your ASUS noteboot cannot boot up with an USB device.

Usb ports wont work on a1217n pavillion desktop

None of them? Front or back? Turn on the computer and notice the screen to see what key ist says to hit to get into the Bios or System Setup during the boot process. Once you get in look to make sure the USB is enabled.

Hopefully you are not trying to put some new device into the port that might be too advanced for your system. Some systems can't handle things like a 1TB external drive.

Make sure you try something in the usb port that you know worked in the past and try different ports.

We buy a new computer and we are going to set up an O.S. what would be d 1st step

Well, the Ist step is to enter the setup by pressing delete as the system turns on. Now choose BOOT DEVICE PRIORITY and make the Ist preference CD ROM and second one HDD. Now press F10 to save and quit. When the system restarts, it will ask you to press any key to boot from CD. Then you will have to press a key within 3 seconds.

After one round of copying completes, the system restarts itself. On restarting, again press delete and make the BOOT DEVICE PRIORITY as it was earlier i.e; HDD Ist and CD ROM second. Press F10 again and upon auto restarting, the installation will resume and complete itself.

Hope this one solved your problem. If you have additional doubts, please come back to us.

Regards
Sunny.

Pentax *ist DS USB Cable

You need a Pentax USB cable I-USB17.
You can get it online from B&H photo or Adorama camera.
I would go with B&H photo personally.

USB transfer problem--*IST D

I would dig around in http://www.usbman.com to see if any patches for Win ME. Used that OS for about 6 months before dumping it. Not my favorite to say the least. Then again that was a long time ago. Would help to know who's USB chip is in your box. Actually cannot recommend any Win products but XP. Have used Win 3.1,95,98,98se,me,xp home.

USB HOOKUP FOR PENTAX *ist DS

You might try unplugging the other USB devices. If you have several devices that are drawing power from the USB, it can cause a problem. If you are using a USB hub, it should be a powered hub. Here is a link to a site that has a USB troubleshooter: http://www.usbman.com/
