Question about Acer Aspire Computers & Internet
When I turn laptop on, it goes to a black screen, than says No Bootable Device. I do not have any recovery discs. How can I fix this. I can't even get to the startup
First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

Generally this is an indication that your hard drive has gone bad, and is no longer visible to the computer. If your still under warranty, call Acer for service; if not, either order and replace the Hard Drive, or take it to a local shop, and they should be able to help you.
In this type of situation, chance are that the drive has died in such a manor that you won't be able to recover any data from it, but you could always ask the shop to try.

SOURCE: no boot disc
Yes bunnydawg could be indeed correct. Although also make sure you don't have a flash drive, external hard drive, or any CD/DVD left in the drive first. As they could try to boot from the device and fail (because they are not setup and formatted as bootable) and it will report the very same message.

This sounds awful, but a friend just had the same problem - no bootable device. He had dropped it, hitting keyboard first. Now he thumped it on the opposite side and IT WORKED! Must have been a loose connector

enter BIOS - you will see a mesage when you first turn on laptop tellign you to press a key to enter setup. Do this and make sure HDD is listed. if it is, you might have todo a recovery.
Turn on laptop, then immediatly press ALT + F10 keep finger on ALT and press F10 a few times, this will start the recovery process. some ask if you want to re-install windows or full factory reset. Windows install will only repair it - full factory reset will delete any data you have! so be careful
