Question about 2wire 2700HG-B Router (2700HGB)

1 Answer

I need 2wire documentation for turning on the firewall

In trying to help me solve the problem of attaching an HP Photosmart c4385 all-in-one wireless printer to my home network whose router is a 2wire 2701HG-B, the HP support people (with whom I have spent over 11 hours of phone-time) had a 2wire person instruct me on turning my 2-wire firewall off. I still can not attach my wireless printer to my network (although a new HP PC attached easily), and I have no received no directions when AT&T replaced my previous router with theirs.

Just disable the wireless security on your 2wire and change the channel to 11. Then power cycle all your devices including the wireless printer.

HP Photosmart C4780 and Acer Aspire fight over web-based printing!

Try hard-wiring your laptop to the router with an ethernet cable as a test and then try printing, if you do not loose connection to the internet then the problem is probably that the printing is hogging your wireless bandwidth.
If the same thing happens with loosing connection to the internet try connecting to the internet real quick through another computer that is hardwired, you want to find out if the problem is a wireless one or that affects wired computers also. You might need a driver upgrade, you also might need to upgrade the firmware of the router

My HP printer will not print pages from the desktop. I ran a test report from the printer itself and it said that the Access point could not be found and that it was in fact turned off. How do I fix this?

If this problem arises check for updated printer drivers, compatibility between your wireless printer and Windows Vista and firewall settings. All or any of this could prevent your HP wireless printer from printing documents. Setting up wireless printers is very easy; however, sometimes certain settings can create hassles for you. get more help for HP Wireless Printer Problems.

Where do i find the essid and key on the 2701HG-B trying to get a HP Photosmart printer to attach

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router .
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then connect 1 computer to the router and open the router set up page. Once you open the router set up page, you will be able to find the wireless network key.
Use that password to connect to the wireless network

Have you tried simply running the Network Connection Wizard from control panel? Here is a link to a basic guide. I'm not sure I understand whether there's an issue with the connecting computer or if you want to set up a host/client shared connection. If the latter see here. Does this apply to your situation?
Take a look at this post, and also see the FAQ sections of the same site for endless help.
You can also access 2wire tech support here.
If you think there may be some corruption in the 2nd computer, run chkdsk according to instructions here and here.
You might also have a look in the Device Manager and make sure the network adapter is working properly. It will show an exclamation point or question mark if it's having problems.
Your connection is behind the 2wire firewall, which should be turned on. If you mean your system firewall, OK for now...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!
