How can I fix printing hesitation on my lexmark x5495

Documents will print but all of a sudden there is alot of hesitation while printing. It has slowed down the printing speed.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at Select your operating system, download and execute the file.

    Go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes > right click on the Lexmark 5400 Series print object > Properties > Lexmark 5400 Series Properties window pops up, click on Ports tab > place a check mark in Enable bidirectional support by clicking in the box beside it. Hit Apply and click Ok to save the settings. Try to print. If problem persists, disconnect the printer usb cable from computer, uninstall the software completely by clicking on Windows logo Start menu > All Programs > Lexmark 5400 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Restart pc. To reinstalI, I recommend you use the software you can download from the Lexmark website. Just click on this link: Download and install the software. Follow the instructions.     Lexmark advertises the cartridges supplied with this printer as cart. #28 and #29. They claim these are nonrefillable. The refillable cartridges are #28a,29a, 34 and 35, the last two being the high yield carts. Make sure you have one of these.

    I found a pencil inside my printer and took it out. It was not easy but now it does not jams the paper. Disconnect the power cord and softly shake the printer from side to side making sure you are holding on to the top scanner door so it won't flip open and listen for anything rolling or loose inside. It just might be your problem.

    When you try refilling your ink cartridges, you are taking chances that something may go wrong. I would search the web and purchase re-manufactured ink cartridges, which would be less expensive than the new ones from Lexmark.

    The Lexmark x5495 printer is not printing correctly. The printout is not aligned properly. The printout is crooked. How can you solve this problem?

    Try to re-seat your cartridges and make sure they are properly inserted in the cartridge carrier.
    If that doesn't help, please do the Align Cartridges function on your printer. From the printer operator panel, while on Copy mode, press the Menu button > Tools > Maintenance > Align Cartridges. You printer will then print a test page that will help align the cartridges.
    After the page is printed, try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed. Thanks.

    Printer won't print from computer

    Try the steps below to clear the print queue and restart your print spooler:
    1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service)
    2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.
    3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the print spooler service)
    Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

    My lexmark x5495 keeps telling me that the paper is jammed, this happens regular and even when cleared it keeps on telling me..

    Not sure which OS, you're using, but try this:

    Go to Start > Printers > right-click your PDF printer and go to Properties

    Go to Printing Preferences and ensure in all possible locations there that you don't have "banner" selected.

    Refilling Ink Cartrdige failer!

    I have a Lexmark X5495 printer and I had it refilled a couple of weeks ago, suddenly i have a message that goes "Order new ink" or something and i check the cartridge but it is still full. I try restarting the printer and even the computer but the printer STILL won't let me print.
