Question about Dell Inspiron 4150 Notebook
I just got a used dell inspiron 4150 laptop and the screen is real dim. I can barely make out anything on it. I popped the memory cover off and see 2 dim for RAM another slot with nothing in it but 2 wires dangling with ends crimped on them to attach to I don't know what. I beleive this empty slot is for a video card or card memory. Should these wires be connected to anything or what else should I look for. Any help would be appreciated.
The empty slot is for a mini-PC card, usually a wireless network card. The 2 wires are actually the antenna wires that connect to the wireless card. The dim LCD may be a problem with the LCD panel display, video controller or motherboard. Try connecting the laptop to an external monitor by connecting to the Video Connector located on the back of the laptop. If the display on the external monitor appears to be normal, then your LCD display panel on the laptop has a problem. If the display on the external monitor is dim then you probably have a bad video controller card or motherboard.
