I have the same exact problem. I have not been able to solve the issue. Is there an update to this problem? It appears that the grinder/auger motor is not running.

Hi, Ice maker not filling with water, door is dispensing ok but not filling the ice resevoire. Also there was a clicking sound as if gears jumping over each other. If the ice bin is filled with an outside source of ice, it will dispence ice out of door but will not make new ice? The red light just inside of freezer is flashing twice then is off for a second and blinks two times continously.Any help would be greatly appreciated. We changed ALL our appliences to new S/S in 2005 big mistake!!!! already replaced the microwave at a cost to us of $325.00---- switched out to GE so far so good.
Thanks, R

My daughter's Maytag MSD2454GRW side by side refrigerator freezer stopped making ice, but the water in the door still dispenses water.
I checked the ice maker and found that there was no water in the tray. I also notcied that there was some cracking of the black plastic around the heating element that causes the ice to release from the tray so that it can be dumped into the storage tray below. In addition, the element was not secured to the bottom of the unit, so I removed the unit so that it could be taken to the dealers for inspection and testing.
The deaaler sold them a new ice maker kit which included an ice maker, storage tray, hoses, wiring and water valve.
I installed the replacement unit, but the freezer still did not make ice, because the water did not fill the tray. At that point I decided that the water valve could be damaged, so I pulled thr refigerator out and removed the cover to the compressor and valves for the fill and water dispenser. I tested to see that there was power to the control valve. I got a reading of 120.3 vac.
The original valve was a double selonid unit with one controling the fill of the ice tray and the other controls the flow of water to the door.
The replacement valve was a single feed unit, only for the ice maker. I called the dealer and explained what I was seeing. He said the valve was most likely the problem and asked me to return the valve and he sold us a double unit.
I installed the double with no change to the operation. As I said at the beginning, we are getting water to the door dispenser, but no water flows to the ice tray.
I removed the fill hose extension at the top of the refigerator which transports water to the tray to be sure that it is not plugged. It is clean.
The only thing I have not tried is replacing the vertical hose from the fill valve to the large fill extension hose, however, I can see through the tube and it looks clean.
I am out of ideas and out of ice too!!
