SOURCE: problem with tuning digital channel

I would believe from what you said, you have solved your problem. You will need a UHF antenna to receive the signal. Walmart or Radio Shack has a great amplified antenna that will work for you.

SOURCE: Hi. I have a Sony

Hi,

This solution is designed to assist when all or some of the available channels are not stored or are missing when trying to change the channels directly on a TV. If using a cable set top box or satellite receiver, refer to the manual supplied with the device or contact the manufacturer for tuning those channels.
Verify that the cable or antenna wire is connected to the VHF/UHF input on the television.
The use of signal splitters can diminish reception. If signal splitters are being used to send the signal to multiple televisions throughout the home, then the signal strength may be too degraded to provide good enough reception and a blue screen or snowy picture may be displayed.
If a VCR is connected to the television, turn off the VCR.
If using an antenna, try adjusting its position.
The type of antenna being used and how far away a particular station is helps determine what type of reception you will receive; the reception of certain stations may be better than others. To determine which stations are available in your area and to find out the recommended type of antenna to use, visit the http://www.antennaweb.org Web site.
Televisions with digital tuners require a signal strength of at least 25% before a digital broadcast will be displayed on the screen. A low digital broadcast signal may also cause intermittent loss in signal. The Federal Communications Committee has set up a support center for customers who are experiencing transmission issues with specific DTV stations. In these cases, call 1-888-Call-FCC (225-5322) for further assistance.
Verify the television tuner is set for the correct signal type.
Set the tuner to Antenna or Cable:Off for receiving over-the-air broadcasts.
Set the tuner to Cable or Cable: On when receiving cable TV broadcasts.
Auto Program the television.
If the problem persists, manually program the channel into the television.
Not all Sony TVs have the capability to manually add digital channels to the memory. If some digital channels are not being stored, but can be viewed by entering them directly with the remote then the signal for that channel would require further improvement.
If the issue is still not resolved, test the antenna or cable by connecting it to a different television.
If the issue is present with a different television, the antenna or cable service is faulty.
The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required. The Sony eService Web site at http://eservice.sony.com/ can assist you in obtaining service from a Sony Service Center or locating a Sony Authorized Servicer.
Thanks for contacting FixYa.

SOURCE: Sony Bravia Digital TV won't

These numbers are the LCN (Logical Channel Number) assigned by the broadcasters. It will only be at 350 if it is the same channel from a different transmitter. You need to know the 'channel' of the frequency to manually tune it in. You are talking about the program number not the channel (frequency), a common mistake. i.e ABC in Sydney is transmitted on CH12 (226.5Mhz) and the LCN's for each program are 2,21,22,23,24,201 & 201. If your antenna also picks up the signals from the Kings Cross transmitter ABC is CH30 (543.5Mhz), as these are later in the spectrum they are put in the LCN list starting at 350.

Bought a 2nd hand N64 & don't know how to set it up on the tv as no instructions.

You now need to find a channel on your TV that ins't used for anything else (eg an old vhs player or non-digital tv) then whilst on that channel you need to go into your TV's menu, there is often a button both on the remote and TV itself for this. This is where you turn on your N64 if you haven't already. You then will need to go onto automatic tuning (or if you prefer, manual tuning, in the programme section (if you dont have a programme section, just srcoll through each section till you find automatic tuning) your TV should then start to search for channels, after a little while of searching it should find the N64's frequency it may be a terrible picture that is mostly fuzz you can either carry on the tuning to see if it'll find it better or just head straight to fine tuning (if you decied to keep going you can still fine tune for the best picture quality possible and also if the TV doesn't find it just follow the previous steps till it locates the N64 again) once fine tuned you will need to store this new channel and then you can go ahead and enjoy countless hours of fun on the worlds best gaming console. (If the automatic tuning doesn't find the N64 at all try manual tuning). If you have any other issue with the console itself just drop me an e-mail at garleet@hotmail.co.uk. Hope I was a help.

I don't know how to tune the digital channels in my vcr. I can automatically tune channel 2, 9, 10, etc but not 7mate, 99Go etc

If your unit does not state DVB anywhere, either in the manual, or on the unit itself, and there are no options to tune in digital services via the menu on screen (as well as no EPG), chances are the tuner in it is analogue only, hence why you cannot tune digital channels in it. To receive all SD/HD digital channels, you would need to connect an external set top box to the recorder's AV inputs, and record/view them that way. (Set top boxes are cheaper than upgrading TVs and DVD equipment in many cases).

The only positive point here is it didn't cost you a workshop repair fee or a new unit - the user manual as a pdf for this model is available on FixYa if needed.

Greetings - Your Sony has the standard tuners for a current HDTV, NTSC (analog), QAM (cable), and ATSC (digital/HD) broadcast..

There's something going on with the Sony TV. It's a pretty high end TV so it might have some additional features that require you to do something different (I doubt it) but make sure you've been through the manual.

If you didn't get one with the TV you can download a PDF version HERE.

Good Luck and Thanks for using Fix Ya.
