the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Acer stuck on preparing to stand by

I would force power off, (press and hold down the power button) then start up windows and download any updates that are missing and then use the Shut Down command instead of the Stand By/Sleep mode.

It wont boot says preparing to repair

I think your question might be incorrectly categorized, either way though, we can get you fixed. You'll need your original Operating System install disc as it looks like it's stuck in a reboot loop due to some error with the hard drive. Put the disc in and follow the instructions to start over. If you need any data from the hard drive, take it out of the computer/laptop, and put it into a second computer that has SATA connections available.

Hold down the power for about 30 seconds or more and the computer should shut down, if not remove the battery from the back of the laptop and then replace after 30 seconds and reboot the mechine.

Laptop stuck at Preparing to Standby

Your Operating System is corrupted.
You need to repair it by performing a repair using your Opareating System (OS) installation CD.

If you are using Windows XP, another alternative would be to install/reinstall service pack 3.
This version fixes errors, but may fail to install if errors wont let it.
In that case you will have to perform a system repair using your OS installation CD.

Download an official copy of service pack 3 from the link below:

Locked up

Hi,

Try removing the battery, then hold down the power button for 10secs and then put the battery back in, then connect the power cord back up and switch it on.

Once you get back to the desktop run a test on the HDD.

Cheers
