8 days out of warranty

Toshiba 23HLV87 has had clicking noise for a couple of months Only correction was turn TV off for a few moments. Turn it back on clicking disappeared. Recently, turn of occasionally didn't work. Most time clicking seemed to cure itself. Appeared to come from one of the front speakers.
Yesterday.... Clicking accompanied by white screen. No on-off corrections. Pulled plug for 5 minutes... replugged ... no correction.

Warranty expired 8 days ago.

Any help is appreciated

Could be a problem with fluctuating voltage. Try using a surge protector and see if this issue still occurs..

EXTENDED WARRANTY

Sometimes a store offers extended warranty (manufacturers place a one-year warranty on their products regardless where it was purchased) with additional price of course and the store takes care of the defective product for you.

The capacitors on the circuit board are bursting slowly-- slowly due to circuit short on the board.the track in which circuit is short is to be located and detected by checking it through multimeter and the capacitor on that track is need to be replaced.and it will be ok after that.as its very easy to do that if you have proper knowledge of how to use multimeters and soldering irons.or calling a technician is the another option.
the capacitors needs to be replaced are not very much costly.

this is a common problem faced by many of the customers and gets resolved by doing this.
calling a technician will also not cost u very much.

thanks.

Hi Braddm
I would suggest call Toshiba , generally they give a grace period coverage. The problem could be with a swolleb IC or a capictor on the motherboard and would require a repair man to do the job.

The click noise or beeps from electrical equipment is to warn a person , that something is going wrong inside the device.

Thanks

    Hi

I generally all companies , give a grace period of 15 days . from the time , the contracts expired. It is way , in case the customer wants to extend the warranty on the equipment or as in your case , the set broke down 8 days outside warranty. As you have already told , you have been experiencing problem with the set when it was in warranty. You can debate the same with Toshiba , and they can cover the same for you if there policy permits . It would be worth trying .

If the same is not covered , they would give you the estimate of the cost involved in repairing the unit

    Thanks

You can ask dealer for extended warranty.
Other way is to ask an estimate of repair in local repair shop.
If you are tech guy and know about tv repair, let me know to open tv for diagnose problem.

TV is in protect mode because of an internal error,

Try unplugging power cable for ten minutes.

If it does not clear the error , then you will need a technician.

Call factory to check if you can get an extended warranty.

The clicking noise is the TV using a safety switch to turn off by itself, as the main chip detects an internal error.

As mentioned you will need repair.

Call Toshiba at the number listed on the owner manual, and ask the cost for a warranty extension, that will cover the cost of repair.

After original warranty expires, you can get one of more years guaranty extension.

This will cover all the same repair expenses and replacements as the ordinary guaranty, but requires an additional payment , and can cover up to five year.

The longer the extension, the more expensive the charge for guaranty extension.

One year guaranty extension, usually cost less than one average single repair.

Guaranty extension is provided by many factories, ring Toshiba to find out the cost.

When I turn on the TV, the DVD player has always made a sound as though it was being activated. It would cycle for a few moments (like it was looking for the DVD) and then the sound would stop. But...

You kneed to replace the DVD Deck. Very easy, just a couple of screws on the side and pull the deck out. When you pull the deck out, if there is a cable connected to it, you will need to take the back off and disconnect the cable. Some models have it and some don't.

Is there a reset button on the Toshiba 23HLV87 models? There was a poweroutage and when we returned the tv would no longr turn on it just makes a clicking sound and the red power light clicks on and off....

There is no reset button, try disconnecting it from the wall outlet for about an hour to let it reset itself. The EPROM may have been scrambled when the power comes back on which usually produce high voltage spikes and sag since everything that are plugged in will try to turn at the same time.
If it still does not work, you will have to open it up and do some inspections.

Tv making clicking noise while I am watching

Hello everyone,

I bought the model TH-50PX60U June of 2007. I've been hearing the very annoying clicking noise as well.

Since the TV has a one year warranty, I just called Panasonic and they've scheduled a tech to come over and take a look at it three days from now.

I will publish the results on the same page.
