Siemens ka..n freezer problem

Siemens KA..N double door Fridge Freezer (approx 6 years old): Can anyone help: Our freezer doesn't appear to be holding the correct temperature, even though the display is set at -18. Bread, fruit and a few other items are not freezing. Ice cubes have congealed and are small. Food in the bottom of the freezer appears cold. The fridge compartment seems fine. Can anyone please offer some advice? Thanks!

Many thanks for your advice! Yes there is a thin layer of ice building up on the back wall inside the bottom of the freezer. We've discovered we have insurance cover on the freezer so have now called an engineer through Siemens, so hopefully they will be able to repair the freezer when they attend next week! Thank you for your advice - much appreciated!

Look inside the back wall of the freezer to see if you have a layer of frost building. If yes this will indicate that the refrigerator is missing its defrost cycle. When you miss defrost it is usally number 1 the defrost control. Number 2 is the defrost heater has burned out and #3 the defrost thermostat. For you to look up the correct replacement parts you will need to find your refrigerators model number found most times inside the fresh food compartment. Fridge too cold!

don't forget that just turning down your fridge temp dose not mean your problem might be over yet. the freezer setting may also be too high & that will affect your fridge temp as well. i set both my control settings to around 50% of what is on the scale & that works perfect for my 7 yr old fridge. also, very important, is make sure the freezer portion is going through it's full defrost cycles, or it will freeze the upper portion inside the fridge. you should not have any frost build up in your fridge, nor should you have any in your freezer. that's why they call them FROST FREE. try the slow temp decrease over a period of a few days & hopefully that will work for you. good luck.

AEG Santo 3778-8 KA Temperature Problem

hi tracy, think its possibly better getting a repair guy in as this fault is not streight forward. possibly a fault in the defrost circuit, or freezer fan not functioning, or possibly a leak in the system. all theese areas need testing equiptment.
