Question about HTC G1
MY PHONE IS LOCKED AND IS ASKING FOR AN EMAIL ADDRESS FROM WHEN I FIRST GOT MY PHONE! HOWEVER I DO NOT REMEMBER THE EMAIL ADDRESS THAT I PUT. SO I CAN NOT UNLOCK MY PHONE.
You need to factory reset your phone. this website shows you what to do without having to access anything on your phone - the first step is shutting it off. follow these steps and your phone will turn on, the only drawback is it will be like its new, and you'll have to re-download all the apps and stuff. it also has you sign up for gmail, and i suggest that you create a gmail address and write it down so it doesnt happen again :)

Its not that easy^ he/she needs the gmail account he/she used when he/she first got the phone to unlock his phone, but the phone keeps telling him that his/her username or password is invalid.

Hey i have an answer!!!!! ok turn your phone off then press and hold Home and Back now let go of back press power then press and hold back again.you should be holding both Home and back. now the G1 should show a red green and blue screen keep both bottons down until a gray screen comes on. the screen should have directions on it saying This operation will delete all your personal data. and reset all settings to manufacture default. just press send and it will restore the G1 to original settings. if you hav problems contact me at Bigb10728@Gmail.com

Make a new email account in Gmail (through the phone is easy) and that gets the phone working. If you can't find the old email address you probably didn't need it that bad anyway.
When you do find it, it also easy to get the old gmail account to forward to the new one (I use that method to get instant copies of emails on the phone, with everything staying on my main email account).

You must have a gmail account to use the phone. Just login on the phone if you have one or create one if you don't. Its not a big deal
