Question about Sony VAIO EF Series Laptop VPCEF47FX/BI
My keyboard skips letters, and I have to backtrack to fix skipped letters much to much. I have had at least six or eight Vaio Laptops over the last ten years, and none has had this problem. Is this a keyboard problem or a "connection" problem or what? I've had the computer about three months, so would this problem be fixed under warranty, and would it require shipping it to Sony, or could I get it fixed locally? Thanks.
Computer specialists, learning over years have concluded there are thousands of different kinds of dirt, dust and grime (grease) that affect keyboards.
If you can clean the keyboard. I take no responsibility for how you might do it, but a vaccum can be of help if you ensure you do not suck up the key caps. If you place a coarse mesh atop the keys, you can keep the keys in place and then be safe.
Of course, if you are careful and handy you may be able to remove the top and clean most effectively.
Below is a link to Sony Vaio support.

tihs can be fixed. you'll need to buy another keyboard either on eBay or Sony - or a reseller. They are about $30 each - and are relatively simple to replace.
As for upgrading the ram - if that's on a laptop, chances are you don't need matching pairs.

i would buy a replacement keyboard for it. most of the time you should be able to find one for cheap on ebay. they are fairly easy to replace and only require popping off the plastic trim on the top edge of the keyboard, removing a few screws and the data wire. then connect and screw in the new one and pop the trim back in place.
