Question about Gateway FPD1975W 19" LCD Monitor
My screen is dark but the monitor still works, if i hold a flashlight up to the screen i can see what is there but barely. any suggestions on how to fix that problem. i have already tried to adjust the dimness on the screen but that didnt work.
The back light must be gone bad, need replacement, contact to sevice center

Could be a bad backlight or a bad power board. The power board most likely has just blown some capacitors. If you are adventurous and know what you are doing, open it up and check the board for any problems.
WARNING: the Gateway 900w has a bunch of quircks with regards to opening it up. Be patient and careful while doing it. You will find after removing the front cover and the LCD panel that the power board is mounted upside down on the mainboard. Check the cluster of 25V capacitors. Mine were all bulged up.

The back lamps that provide the illumination of the
colors, is shutting down there are feedback circuits when there is a problem
with the lamps it will shut down the lamps. Replacing the lamps should alleviate
