Pick up a second hand monitor, test your system to see if a signal comes through i.e. you have image on screen. before you do a recovery, perform a back up and restore, to a previous date & time. You may just have a bad monitor.
Try going in to Safe mode. This loads the basic drivers and if you have a problem with hardware, it will still open up Windows.
Turn on computer and immediately press F8.
Any hardware issues will show up in device manager.
I know people who have tried but haven't had much luck. They use a USB capture device in review mode instead but you may get a slight delay on some cheap models but a good quality one is pretty instant.
Remove main battery, get a stiff toothbrush and clean battery terminal in laptop and prongs on batteries. Install battery and charge, if no change! rechargeable battery needs to be replaced.
Please press the f8 key on restarting the system on the gateway logo and see if you are able to reach the windows advanced menu screen that shows the safe mode option.
if yes please selct safe mode and then please restore the system to the earliest back date maybe 2-3 days back.
lick Start click allprograms select accessories click system tools and then system restore, use the option restore my computer to an earlier time and you need to clik on the date which is bold in color i mean a back date then hit next to proceed.
wait till it restart and completes the system restore
you going to go to safe mode and try to restore you system to the date that you not change the video settings of computer just go to start button goto accessories click system tools and click system restore
it sounds like a deleted driver? try getting the driver for the monitor, did you loose the Operating system at some point, if so try a system restore to a date when the computer was working properlly prior to the malfunction. It sounds like it restored you to a time before the driver for that monitor was installed.
