Try un-installing the printer software, re-booting your pc and re-installing said software.

If you don't have the printer drives, you should be able to download them for free from the Canon website, just follow links for support and/or downloads. You'll need to enter details of your operating system and printer as you go.

You got a virus. You will need to get rid of it, then install an anti-virus and anti-spyware solution.
I recommend Comodo Internet Security - it's free for home use and very good.

Generic Host for Win32 when installing IE7

you will have to format the drive in order to do this and do a clean instal. you will have to do a fdisk as well, it's the only way to get rid of vista and if the machine came with vista you may not be able to use all devices as vista drivers are only for vista.

Spoolsv.exe application error

The Spoolsv.exe executable file is responsible for handling the printing process on a Microsoft Windows system. Although this process is not crucial to run your Windows system, you must not terminate it until you think that it is causing problems on the system.

To fix spoolsv.exe application error, you will have to remove these files from the system. To do this, perform the following steps on your Windows XP computer:
  1. Open Control Panel, select Performance and Maintenance, select Administrative Tools and then select the Services option.
  2. In the Services management console, locate the Spooler services, right-click on it and select Stop.
  3. Next, open the C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers folder. (Here, we are assuming that your Windows is installed in the default C:\Windows folder)
  4. Delete all the .SHD and SPL files from this folder.
  5. Next, open the TMP folder and delete all old and unused files from this folder.
  6. Finally, restart the Spooler service from the Services management console.

Note: If you are unable to delete the files in Normal Mode, then you may have to restart your computer in Safe Mode to delete the files. To start your PC in Safe Mode, press F8 at system restart and then select the Safe Mode option from Windows Advanced Options Menu.

If deleting the files does not rectify the problem, you must perform a System Restore and rollback your system to the time prior to when the error started appearing on your computer.
  • It is important for you to know that application errors can also occur due to virus or spyware infections. In fact the Spoolsv.exe process is also a known backdoor vulnerability that can be planted on your computer for malicious purposes by a hacker.
*Your vote is highly be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Let me know if this fix your problem.

Best regards

Printer spooler stopped

The spooler service is responsible for managing spooled print/fax jobs.
The spoolsv.exe file is located in the folder C:WindowsSystem32.In other cases, spoolsv.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm! Virus with same name:
VBS.Masscal.Worm (vbs)

It might have attempted to 'replace' (not really, but sort of, in order to use it as a cover for DOS attacks) your original spoolsv.exe when your computer got infected.
The most likely explanation of your current problem is that Regcure had cleaned it up, or has marked it to be kept in it's vault.

Regcure actually did what it was supposed to so don't think there is a problem with that program, although I tend to use the registry cleaning option within nCleaner instead, as a lot of these 'Registry Optimizers' tend to do a 'Free Scan' then report 'False Flag errors' and try to charge people to fix them.

First thing to do is download Spybot, then, (in this order) install it, Check for Updates, download them, disconnect completely from the internet (completely, take out the ethernet cable, or turn of your wireless connection), Scan for Problems (takes 20-30 mins or so, let it finish and don't use your computer during this), Fix Selected Problems, press the Immunize tab, Press Immunize. Reboot.

Now you are free of Spyware. If you had a worm/trojan, you're antivirus software would have detected it. (I use Avast antivirus, it's free and does everything for you)

Now try to Start the Spooler Service in Service Manager again. If you still can't, then you need to replace spoolsv.exe, so your operating system knows what to do with the requests from the printer.

The only surefire way to do this is to try running scannow, to replace any missing system files, from yourWindows install disk. Put your install disk in the drive and hold the leftshift key until the drives lights stop blinking (will prevent the diskfrom auto loading), or let it load and then exit the install screen. Then click Start > Run > and type sfc /scannow (note there IS a spacebetween the sfc and the /)

This will start a scan of the system files and will replace any that it finds are missing.

Reinstall the printer and reboot if necessary.

Hope this helps!

Chris (ziraffa)

PS I don't know if it is possible to do this, but if you don't have a Windows install disk, then you might want to try copying the spoolsv.exe file from C://Windows/System32 in another computer that is running the same operating system and pasting it into the same folder on your computer. I've never tried this, but it is what I would try if I definitely could not load a Windows install disk in this situation. Definitely try and use a disk first though, if at all necessary.. :)

While trying to install my printer I ran into some problems with the print spooler, while trying to fix this problem I get this message displayed RUNDLL Erro loading C:\Windows\System32\xmqlllnu.dll ...

I had a look at and it doesnt list ur missing dll.
I would suggest getting the latest drivers for your printer, uninstalling the old ones and install the printer again.
If your print spooler is disabled then you might have issues as well. Just make sure the spooler is enabled. Click run then type msconfig and hit enter, under the serices tab make sure that print spooler is checked, spoolsv.exe is the command.

But firstly fix the drivers for the printer cause that looks like a service specific dll thats missing for the printer

Hope that helps
