Will not range

I have just changed out the 9volt battery to a brand new one & now when i press the button for a range on a object it lights all of the items in the eye piece. I have tried a new battery. I have let it just sit for an 1hr. i removed the battery for a 1/2 hr. put it back in & the same thing happens. No change. any help would be appreciated.

I compete in 3d archery so I bought a new rangefinder 2 days ago and it reads 19.2 yards at exactly 20 yards is there a way to adjust it to read properly?

Page 5 of the manual states: RANGING ACCURACY The ranging accuracy of the Scoutâ„¢1000 is plus or minus one yard / meter under most circumstances. The maximum range of the instrument depends on the reflectivity of the target. The maximum distance for most objects is 650 yards / 594 meters while for highly reflective objects the maximum is 1000 yards / 914 meters. Note: You will get both longer and shorter maximum distances depending on the reflective properties of the particular target and the environmental conditions at the time the distance of an object is being measured. The color, surface finish, size and shape of the target all affect reflectivity and range. The brighter the color, the longer the range. White is highly reflective, for example, and allows longer ranges than the color black, which is the least reflective color. A shiny finish provides more range than a dull one. A small target is more difficult to range than a larger target. The angle to the target also has an effect. Shooting to a target at a 90 degree angle (where the target surface is perpendicular to the flight path of the emitted energy pulses) provides good range while a steep angle on the other hand, provides limited ranging. In addition, lighting conditions (e.g. the amount of sunlight) will affect the ranging capabilities of the unit. The less light (e.g. overcast skies) the farther the unit's maximum range will be. Conversely, very sunny days will decrease the unit's maximum range.

The difference you are experiencing (20-19.2=.8 yards) is within the device ranging accuracy of 1 yard, and is in fact an error of only 4%. That is pretty accurate

In case you have lost your manual, you can download from here:

Good luck with your device.

Bushnell Medalist stopped working

It sounds like the 9volt battery connector has a broken wire. You maybe able to have it resoldered or send it to Bushnell for repair. If you take upon yourself to open the unit up....You could void your warranty. If it is under 2 years old from the date of purchase, its under warranty. Call Bushnell at 800.423.3537 and ask them. They might have you send it in and replace the unit with a new one.

Tour v 2 , it doesnt show the actual yardage and I didn't try i

Make sure the battery is good. (Go to a radioshack and have them measure the voltage). It should be 3.1 to 3.2 volts. The reflectivity of objects being measured is a factor. Lighter colors reflect better than darker colors. Larger objects reflect better than small ones. License plates, highway signs are very reflective. You should be able to hit one of those from more than 700 yards away. Make sure the Pinseeker mode is on and try.....(touch the mode button and the flag comes up on the screen) Don't hold the mode button down for more than 5 sec or you will switch the unit to meters instead of yards.

Won't range even after reset

Well after going through the reset procedure (holding both buttons down for 30 seconds) the unit didn't appear to be working. Being somewhat new to the proper use of this device it appears that it might be sensitive to low light conditions or certain objects. After playing with it more I'm now able to get it to work but there are still certain conditions where it won't give me a reading.

You must use alkaline batteries only.....Heavy duty batteries dont generate enough current to power the laser properly...

Can't get unit to work. Yes I replaced the battery

I just got off the phone with a tech at Bushnell Canada and they say it stands for Low Battery.

Perhaps worth noting that they suggest using a high quality alkaline battery as opposed to an heavy duty battery.

Also...I wonder how many people use 9volt batteries anymore...and how long the ones we're buying have been sitting on the shelf...ya know?

Do not know how to operate

First, be sure and focus the eyepiece on what you desire to measure distance to. Begin the measurement with the range dial set to minimum. Slowly tury the dial until the grey-blue image and the yellow image overlap each other. Read the measurement. If you suspect it is in error, you can calibrate the 400 or 1000 or 1200 by turning the screw slot within the range dial using an object you know the distance to. If the two images are off in the vertical direction, there's a screw below the range finder to adjust that. Turn it very little. Regarding the model 610, mostly the same except to calibrate it, merely spread the adjustment knob apart (spring loaded) and turn the part of it nearest your eyes so the yardage matches the distance.
