Question about Olympus Camedia C-5000 Zoom Digital Camera

Problem with Olympus Camedia C5000

I have this camera and it won't turn on. I tried recharging the battery which didn't work then bought a new Lithium Battery 3.7V and I'll be if that didn't work either.
I thought perhaps there was an internal battery like the Canon A300 has, like a watch battery but I don't see any place looking externally that there could be one.
Also, there does'nt seem to be any problem with the connects. I did follow the instructions with vinegar and white eraser but that didn't do any good. The connections look clean as opposed to some I've seen where there's been leakage from the battery.
So, any other ideas?
Thanks, Mary

Try to clean batteries host's contacts (cover and inside). By the way, did you charged the batteries before inserting them to camera. In case of a positive answer did you checked their voltage after charging ?

SOURCE: Canon A450 internal battery problem?

There are cameras with 'fixed' internal batteries to maintain date/time they are long lived and not usually replaceable.
If this is such a model and it is new then a replacement should be forth coming from the vendor or Canon.
The vendor is the first stop then Canon support

My olympus isn't turning on

Try putting in regular batteries and see if it will turn on. The rechargeable batteries might be over-taxed and won't recharge. My Olympus camera works just as good on regular batteries as on the rechargeable ones. It is easier to come up with regular batteries than having to always run to the docking station to recharge the original batteries.

I hope this works for you.

It Needs a Lithium battery- only lithiums have the density to cope with the demand - no need to buy expensive Olympus Originals
Try www.sevendayshop.com for starters
Plenty  of sellers out there.

LONG warm-up time before ready to shoot

I found that a large memory card will make the "warm up" time longer. If you use a smaller memory card, this will not be the case.

Type of battery

The Ni-MH batteries are recommended for the active photographer. The NI-MH batteries are rechargeable, economical and work well in low temperatures. The CR-V3 Lithium Batteries are recommended for the less active photographer. They are lightweight, non-rechargeable batteries that provide hours of shooting.

Type of batteries

Olympus recommends the use of Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) rechargeable batteries or Olympus CR-V3 (LB-01) long-life disposable lithium batteries. The batteries are only used to power the camera. The print engine in the C-211 Zoom is powered by a battery pack self-contained inside each Polaroid® Type 500™ film pack.

Batteries

The Lithium batteries that are provided with the camera will supply approximately 200 images. The Ni-MH batteries will provide approximate 100 shots per charge. The B-10LPB Lithium Polymer battery will allow 500 - 700 shots per charge and can be recharged approximately 500 times. B-12LPB Lithium Polymer Battery will deliver twice the power allowing 1000- 1400 shots per charge and can be recharged approximately 500 times. The Alkaline batteries, although can be used, is not recommended due to very low battery life.
