Vistron LTM 3271E flat screen Tele. flashing Power LCD

Ref Vistron LTM 3271E flat screen Tele. With back light on the rear of LCD screen panel disconnected, I can get power and sound on, I can Programme selects different channel ok, but when remote control turns Off Power, it fails to restart television and LED starts to FLASH again. As soon as I reconnect, picture may come on for a very short while, 30sec-60sec then all closes down with power button flashing. It looks like it might be the PSU, but don`t really want to waste monies if this is not the problem. No sign of overheating or component damage on PSU.

SOURCE: when i switch tv on, it shows picture for 5

The problem is associated with the power supply that cannot run under load. The showing of picture for a brief period of time indicates that the main board, ballast, inverter and panel drive are all OK. The unit turns on but the power supply cannot sustain the power requirement of the unit and shuts down.
The usual culprit on the power supply are blown or bad capacitors. Check the power supply for such capacitors. If no apparent damage or defect is found, replace the power supply.

You have a diode arrangement in your power supply that converts the AC power to DC power so that it can be stepped up to operate the high voltage power supply of the set. If those diodes are blown, which happens frequently in a storm, then you have no voltage to your high voltage. You are going to have to check that diode arrangement by making a continuity check both ways on each diode. A diode blocks voltage one way but lets it pass the other way, thus producing a DC voltage.

I have a samsung rear projection tele. I havent used it for 12 months, i have just plugged it back in and the red standby light comes on at the front of the tele. When I press the power button on the...

means B+ over current protection shutdown. Problem in power supply.
However since it was not used for 12 months
the problem could be that the fan that cools the bulb is not starting when you turn the tv on. Blow on it to get it going or clean with compressed air. The fan could be clogged up with lint etc. It's on the rear left of the tv.

Remote will not turn on tv or control volume

Testing remote control:
The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera’s Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera’s screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. If you do see the flashing on the camera, then the problem is in the TV IR receiver or the main logic board; more troubleshooting with scope will be needed to look at the signals.
