SOURCE: Inputing scientific notation into my calculator

Hello,

1. To convert a number to scientific equation, use [2nd][Sci]

Exemples 12345 [=] screen shows 12345 Then [2nd][Sci] coverts it to 1.2345 ^04 to the power 4.

2. To enter directly a number in scientific notation (e.g. -1.2345 X10^(-65) a very small number) you use the [EE] key 1.2345[+ /-][EE][+/-]65 shows as -1.2345 -65

1.6X10^(-19) 1.6[EE][+/-]19 shows as 1.6 -19

Hope it helps

What is BIN at the top of the screen? How do you get rid of it?

Of course it is possible!

There seem to be many ways to do this on this calculator.

Assuming we cannot do scientific notation, we can always do

6.02 x 10 ^ 23 / 3.01 x 10 ^23. However, we have to put brackets in to get BEDMAS to work correctly!

6.02 x 10^23 / (3.01 x 10^23) - for the 10^23, type 10 then the y to the x key and then 23.

Using the scientific notation, we can type in 6.02 EXP 23 / 3.01 EXP 23.

Good luck with your chemistry test tomorrow!

Take care,

Paul

To find percentages on this calculator, or any calculator, you divide one number by the other, and multiply the result by 100.

For example, for 2 out of 5, we type in 2, hit the divide button, type in 5 and hit the equals sign and we will get 0.4. To make this into percentage, we then multiply the answer by 100 to get 40%.

Good luck,

Paul

Most likely you set the angle unit to degree. As long as you do not calculate trigonometric ratios you won't get incorrect results. Switch the angle mode to radian if that is what your calculations require.

On the Staples Scientific Calculator BD-107i, I can't find the fraction function. I don't think there is one.

You cannot. The calculator does not have a Computer Algebra System or
CAS. If you are trying to calculate an integral over an infine interval,
you must try some high values to simulate infinity and find a value
after which the value of the integral stops changing .

You must have pressed the MODE key followed by SOLV , QUAD or SIMUL-2 or SIMUL-3 . If the calculator has these a programs they solve a Quadratic equation, a simultaneous system of two linear equations (SIMUL-2) . a system of 3 linear equations (SIMUL-3).

To use these solvers (IF YOU ARE INTERESTED), you select the solver you want and you will be prompted for a first coefficient (a, or a1). You enter the value and press the DATA key and you will be prompted for the next coefficient.

To exit the Solver mode press the MODE key followed by the key next to which there is DEC or >DEC. It might also be marked COMP.

Sorry, I do not have that very calculator but an other AUREX Scientific calculator (DS-752C).
