Question about Sony WEGA KLV-23M1 23 in. HD-Ready LCD Television
There are 3 areas of very light screen discoloration. One area is closer to the top of the screen and another area is directly below it nearer to the bottom. The third area is between the 2 but offset to the right. These areas are only noticeable when a very light background is on the screen such as the light gray you would see in a black and white movie. These areas are always the same no matter what input source. So far it does not seem to be getting any worse. Thanks for any advice on what this might be caused by.

It is very likely that there are electrolytic capacitors going high in ESR on the processor and driver boards, and also in the power supply areas. The tech should be able to see this by monitoring supply distributions with a scope.
Depending on the complexity of changing the caps on the boards (if it is actualy a cap problem), the best choice may be board replacements.
In almost all the cases where I had this type of fault, it was a number of capacitors that had to be replaced.

It appears that the greenish discolored area could be cause by the Yoke or it could also be some magnetization on the screen as well.
If it's the yoke that moved slightly out of position, it can be adjusted, but i would suggest to let a repair tech do it due a high voltage around the area.
Try unplugging the TV for some time and plug it back in and hopefully the demagnetizer circuitry might be able to clear the greenish spot.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
