Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. This machine is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar if something jams it. After you've checked the cleaner head for obstructions and removed any threads or hair from around the brushbar, you'll be able to reset the machine, as shown in the video below.

If the machine doesn't seem to have suction through the hose, there may be a blockage in the wand or hose - the easiest way to check for this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1120&product=DC24-ALLFLOORS

Following these steps should resolve both issues - however, if you'd like any further help or advice, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Jack

SOURCE: No Problems with suction on hoses, however brush area it seems to lose powe, and has little suction r

We had a similar problem with ours and had to finally take it to the repair shop. They informed us that we needed to replace our clutch and that you needed to do that every 2-3 years. It cost less than $100 and has been well worth it.

You need a new belt. You can find any vacuum belt at www.vacbelts.com

SOURCE: The spinning brush isn't moving

Belt may be off the motor spindle, with the vacuum off try turning the brush by hand, does it turn freely or can you feel the resistance of the motor?

My dryson dc40 beater bar will not spin and there is no suction

The brush bar motor or one of the switches may be defective. If the brush is not spinning it will not pick up anything from carpet leading many to think it has no suction. Feel for suction down by the brush bar. If you have no suction it may have a clog or need new filters. Make sure the changeover valve that switches suction from floor to tools is working properly.

My dyson dc35 animal brush spins very slowly. Brush is clean and hair free, could it be the small motor

There shouldn't be a motor in the brush. The brush is powered by the suction on the hose. Check the suction on the hose. The vacuum itself might need to be cleaned. If the suction is a problem and you have cleaned the vacuum I would contact dyson support to see if they can replace your vacuum. http://www.dyson.com/support.aspx

Can't get the roller to spin

i suggest taking hose off and declogging it by using a water hose to make sure its free of debris. Plus check your belt first take off bottom plate the you'll be able to tell if belt is broken which it sounds like it is.
if belt is good and hose is clear and still brush wont spin then your brush motor needs replacing. hope this helps.

I have a Kenmore "Intuition"

I had a different vacuum that did this. I took all manner of things apart looking for blockages and the like .I found that by having the vacuum handle in the full upright position shuts off the suction to this area and doesn't power the brush BY DESIGN. I think this is to get more suction to the hose.

Hi my dc07 has lost suction on the roller, but not on the hose there are no blockages cyclone still strong any ideas thanks

Are the brushes in the base of the vacuum spinning? You wont get much suction from the base of the hoover if the brush bar isn't working?

Lie the vacuum on it's side and turn it on. If the brushes aren't spinning then your belt has either come off or broken. I suspect this is the cause of your problem.

The machine will not suction - it will spray and spin the brushes but will not suction - the power is going to the machine, but it will not suction.

Disconnect the suction hose. While running, check the suction port if it works, by putting a piece of paper. If the paper is taken in, then it is oK. Now, check the suction Hose for breaks or opening before the suction head. Breaks or opening breaks the suction power at the suction head. Loose connection between the suction pipe and the suction port also must be check as this will also cause the same
problem. You may need to replace the suction hose

Suction/Brush not working

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here.
There are a couple of common reasons that your electrolux vacuum cleaner would appear to have lost it's suction. The first and most common is that it has actually broken a belt. If the belt is broken the brushes won't spin and it will not pick up dirt. It is easy to test simply turn the vacuum on, release the handle (as if you were about to vacuum carpet) and lift up the head and see if the brushes are spinning. If not i can supply you with a new belt.
If the brushes are spinning then your next most likely cause is that there is a blockage in the vacuum somewhere. Test this by turning machine on and checking the suction at the hose (as if your were going to vacuum the couch) if it is poor then remove hose and fish out blockage. If it is ok you may have a blockage between hose and the brush of the vacuum.
If it is neither of these problems i can trouble shoot over the phone if you live in Australia 0269215200 or by email [email protected]
Happy Vacuuming.. :)
