Hi,

The presence of unnecessary Windows files on your system may often create certain problems.

Some unnecessary files loaded on your system during start up include Windows sound, Windows fonts, Windows components.

Due to the presence of these unnecessary files, your HP Laptop may not come on.

In order to avoid this problem, the removal of extra files is very important.

First understand downloading videos or anything else in and of it's will not keep your computer from starting up.

Have you first checked your power source? Insure your power adapter ( if it has a tiny power light) is on. Some how you must verify your power is working. Also, On the chance that your batteries were fully charged, disconnect that power cord completely, now try and start it.

Do you get absolutely nothing whether on battery or on power from the wall? If that is true, you should expect you have a power problem inside the laptop.

One other thing I would check would be to remove the batteries completely, then try using the power cord, plugged into a know good source, that is, plug something else, a lamp into the wall first make sure it works then try you laptop. I the laptop still does not work. It is time to consider taking it to, two computer repair places for repair estimates.

So, if you have lights, you must have more indicators. It is important to note, what you may be seeing on your screen. For instance, when you press the power button. If you can see ANYTHING at all flash up on your screen, it would be helpfull to say so.

Also find your hard drive light on your laptop, do you know what that looks like? See if you you apply power it flickers as normal. (You may have to try this a couple times to wach the screen and watch the Hard drive light.

If you can not identify which light is for your hard disk drive,

What model number HP do you have?

scarrios, when your computer boots next time if you haven't defragemented your drive, do this: Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk defrag, click drive C: defragment. If you computers screen saver comes on I recomend no screensaver when defraging. Let's start there, if you have already done that since the problem, say so.

Popkitty_25, I am researching you computer BRB.

popkitty_25 This HP Customer Care site indicates there may be a problem with your BIOS . "There is no video on the computer LCD panel or external monitor." You mentioned nothing flashes on the screen.

Please follow the link by clicking on the HP site I list above; and the instructions on that site, inserting your model number, etc.., in order to determine if your laptop qualifies for a free repair!

Sorry this is so late, I wonder if I can set my profile to send me email when someone replies... I will check.

I cannot view a downloaded game on my HP mini netbook. I even purchased more memory thinking that may be the reason, but I still can't view it. I can see that it's downloaded, but cannot view it. What...

Need to read all the specifications of the games because is not just the memory, are many factors when you play on a computer. Also the CPU count, Video card, etc, etc, that why you be sure to read well the specifications of the game.

Hello, I have an HP-NC6000...can tell by the boot up sound that it DOES boot up...display shows nothing but vertical colored lines and some rows of what looks like random charaacters. I thought problem...

Hi,

As far as i know the video card is integrated on to the motherboard on that HP model laptop.

Having changed the screen you have start looking elsewhere for the problem as it could be a number of different issues which cause this to happen.

Now because of the laptop being a few years old i doubt that the GPU (graphics processing unit or video card) is to blame, although i cannot rule it out. But first you need to check on the system memory as this can cause the display to go weird. You will find a panel under the laptop, unscrew that and remove the system memory, clean the contacts and re-seat it. If you have more than one memory module then put just one back and turn on the laptop to check on the display.

Make sure you check each individual stick of memory just in case one of them is faulty.

If after cleaning and re-seating the memory the display is the same then your looking at video card or possible bad display cable.

To check the video card get hold of a standard desktop monitor and hook it up to the laptop. Use the keyboard to switch to the external by holding down Fn and then hit F4 (i think).

If the display is the same on the external monitor then the GPU has developed a fault. If the display goes back to normal on the external but stays the same on the laptop the look at the display cable.

Please post back if you need to.

Good luck.

Hi,

Try this fix..

Right click on the streaming video and go to settings.
Uncheck the option that says "Enable Hardware Acccelaration"

If it does not work then remove the current version of the flash player and download the latest version of flash player and adobe shockwave player.
