Question about Canon PowerShot A75 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Blurry pictures I got my camera out for the 1st time in about 5 months, turned it on and it all the sudden WILL NOT FOCUS on ANYTING. No warning signals or nothing. It worked fine last time I used it. I changed the batteries and still no good. Tried all modes but still just a blurr. You can point it a different stuff and you can hear the sound of the lens focusing, but sitll just a blurr. Tried it inside, outside, up close and far away but just a blurr. Even took a picture & downloaded it to my computer cause I thought mabey the lcd had gone haywire, but the downloaded picture looked just as blurry as the lcd image had. I`m pretty ignorant as far as the camera goes, but have used it fine since I got it new a couple or 3 years ago. Tried the troubleshooting part of the owners manual, but no good still. What`s up here???? Thanks - - - Allen

I forgot to mention I tried holding the button down half way, still no focus. Had not thought of cleaning the front of the lens, but that did not help. This thing is way blurry, not just a little out of focus. Nothing is even remotely recognizeable. Thanks for the hints.

I have this same problem, have cleaned the lens also. I use the camera frequently and was very suprised to turn it on today to find that everything is super blurry, changing from auto focus to anything else made no difference at all. All the settings are exactly the same that i've been using.

I just checked out the canon website, there is a link there regarding the CCD image sensory advisory. They are aware of the problem of all of a sudden getting a blurry picture and will fix it for free. Just call the toll free number on the site and they will send you a free mailing label and tell you what to do. They said it will take 10 days to fix, buy hey it's free.

I have a couple suggestions for you to try. Now this one will sound silly, but it will be a simple fix if this is the problem. Use a soft clean lint free cloth to wipe the lens just to make sure there is not some sort of film over it causing this blur. Next, try holding the button down half way before taking your picture, this will give the lens a chance to focus before taking the picture. See if these two suggestions help.

Good Luck! from Moms Just Know

Blurry picture if zoom is used ( no Sharp mage)

I'm out of practice because my camera suddenly stopped working 6 months ago, but I don't recall having a problem with blurry pictures when I used the zoom. Sometimes, it takes a few seconds for a pic to come into clear focus. I think the trick is to just keep working with it.

Sony Cyber-shot takes lots of blurry pictures in

first thing you can do is to try reverting cam back to factory settings.to do that initialize the camera.it's under menu>setup settings>main settings1>initialize. after initializing, set cam to auto adjustment mode (green camera icon in mode dial). what to avoid when taking pictures:
1.subject too close (use macro if needed)
2.insufficient light
3.subject movement
4.camera movement (that's caused by you)
5.incorrect camera setting
5.incorrect camera operation
btw, before you take a picture, press the shutter button halfway down first to give the cam ample time to focus.you'll see a flashing green indicator on the screen that means cam is focusing.when the indicator stops blinking cam is ready for the shot.press shutter button all the way.review your picture.if still blurry, you may try changing iso (for dark or fast moving subject, note:the greater value the noisier the picture gets), metering mode and focus settings by going to the shooting menu (press menu when your in P or program mode). hope this helps.tnx:)

Camera will not focus correctly. when shutter button is pushed half way down the picture goes blurry, and if you take the photo it actually turns out blurry.

If you are taking close up photos, you might have to use the "macro" setting. The auto focus only works down to around 5 or 6 feet I think. I have an earlier model of that camera. I use mine for normal use and also close up for work related photos.

All of a sudden everything is out of focus and very blurry, pictures and even through the view finder. we took a few pics tht turned out normal, set the camera down picked it up about 5-10 minutes later...

If the viewfinder is also blurry, it might be as simple as a smudge on the lens. Is the blur uniform and consistent on the pictures and in the viewfinder? Was there a curious dog nearby when you set the camera down?:)

Picture blurry or out of focus.

Make sure your subject is within the camera's range. You should be at least 31 inches away to take a picture without the flash, and 31 inches to 8 feet away to take a picture with the flash. You can take a picture as close as 8 inches in macro mode. When you take macro close- ups, make sure you have adequate lighting (with the flash disabled). Using a tripod will help you capture sharp pictures. Make sure you hold the camera steady after you press the shutter button (until the red light starts to flash), and your subject isn't moving. If you are shaking the camera when you lock the focus, a warning icon appears in the right corner of the LCD. If you want to photograph a moving subject, you can change the shutter speed while the camera is connected to your computer. Try increasing the shutter speed. For more information, see Chapter 6. Make sure your flash is not set to flash off. When you focus on a nearby object, your picture's background may appear blurry. Try changing your focus.
