Cannot hear the dial tone or the person on the other end

I am having a problem hearing anything on the curve. If I dial out I cannot hear the ringtone or the person on the other end, but they can hear me.

The last call I could hear on my phone was breaking up really bad. Then, I just couldn't hear anyone on the other end. I called a couple of different numbers, tried my speakerphone, AND my bluetooth. Still nothing. I turned it off, waited a few seconds, turned it back on. Still nothing.
I took the battery out, waited a few minutes, replaced it. Then, I could only hear the other end on speakerphone, not without speakerphone. I didn't try the bluetooth this time. I just took the battery out again. We'll see what happens.

Your speaker could be going out.  When making a call press the $ button to activate the speaker.  See if that function works.
Adjust the volume with the volume control on the right  side of the as needed.

So, the reason the battery removal didn't fully work the first time is because it automatically reconnected to my bluetooth, which I didn't have connected before I turned it off, so I didn't think about it. Once I disconnected it, everything is fine. Thanks!

I've been having same problem, and its becoming more frequent, have to take battery out of phone, wait about 30 seconds and reinstall battery then reboot phone. This corrects problem, but when your driving down the highway and this happens, it can become quite a nuisance.......

My phone has a weird dial tone. it breaks up i cant hear the person on the other side.. i try putting my phone on speaker but i cant hear anything.. when i use my headphones only one works.. what can it...

had same problem.
1) connect earphones and try a test call. If it sounds ok with h/phones then
2) record yourself / some music and see if it plays back ok. If it does then it's not the speaker or microphone. I found that this test miraculously cured the prob.
If it doesn't then take it back to supplier.

My telephone dials the number but I cannot either hear the dial tone or hear a person.

You will have to do a master or "hard" reset which will reset your phone to factory state. This can be done via Tapping Start > Settings > System tab, then tap Clear Storage and input "1234". Conversely you can also hard reset your phone by holding both your softkeys (the physical keys that map to left and right menu options) and using your stylus to hit the reset button while holding those two softkeys.
Warning: when "hard reset" executed ,it will delete all files and back to factory setting...You better save your important files. Hope it may help you; Regards, VOTIT

I cant hear my ringtone on my blackberry curve

Hello,

Check that you have not put the phone on silence. That is the cause why you are not hearing your ringtone.

Refer to the manual

Best regards

No sound Blackberry

Check your profile settings and make sure that it is not set to phone only or all alerts off. If it is set correctly double check your ringtones and make sure they are set for sound. If those options are there then do a battery pull. If it still doesn't work then I would do a search on the crackberry.com website. It is a great site for all things blackberry.

Can't hear ringer

I had this same problem with my Blackberry. You should check the settings on your sound and volume for incoming calls and make sure you have a tone set. You can also find a way to amplify your ringtone by hooking it up to your computer. If you dont' hear anything at all, then check the buttons on the side and see if that increases the volume. Ringtone for contact is not working

If it is only one person, it is because the phone they are using is not supported by the network they are on. Can't do anything about it. It is the only way I know my wife is calling. Ironically, I have her on speed dial and it works everytime. If this is helpful, please post as such.
