Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+
I have two model 139.53754 openers. both reciever learn the remotes transmitters. but won't learn from the keyless key pad code. The keypad stoped working so i replaced the battary this still didn't help. so i found my new keypad from the second unit and installed the battery in it and it doesn't learn the code either from this keyless keypad
Check to make shure the battery from the second unit is good because it was stored for a period of time ,make shure it,s installed correctly . and after installing battery press any of the buttons you should see the keyboard light up , if you have a hard time seeing it because of the daylight just cup your hand,s around the display ! If that is all good then before installing the keypad on the outside jam ,go to the machine and locate the srt button or the smart button , after you located it just press it once and the yellow indicator light will turn solid , at this time you can program 4 digits into the keypad and hit the enter button on the keypad , At this point after pressing and holding the enter button ,you will see the machines lightbulb turn on and off once , that is telling you that the machine has just accepted the code ,for your other machine do not use the same code because the two doors will open togeter for example 1234 enter.................2nd machine 1235 enter you should have no problem programming the machines , theese are the easiest machines to programm and only take litteraly a few swconds each ....it takes me less then 5 seconds to do each ! also another way to check if your keypad is sending a signal back to the machine is find the srt button or the smart button (,they are the same button) look at the yellow indicator light next to it and then press the enter button and hold it down on the keypad you will see the light on the machine blinking rapidly , That is telling you that the machine is recieving a signal ! Good luck and hope this helps you , if your keypad still don,t work bring it back to sears for a replacement , sincerely Glenn

the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all
