You may want to download drivers and new updates for this model from the link above. You have to select your version (2) and you'll see the download to your left on the page.

Try plugging it into another USB port.and or another computer if you have one available. Test the USB port with another device to see if it maybe the problem. Also make certain your plugs are snugly in their sockets. But it I think you are right on target with the defective device point of view.
If you ruled out the things listed above...defective.
Hope this helps, please leave rating, thank you

Trouble getting a connection

This adapter's driver is pre-installed in Vista. That means that Vista should automatically see it and install it.
Power down your computer.
take out the D-link adapter.
Power on the PC. Once you get to the desktop, check in the control panel > device manager. It should not be there.
Then power off the PC again.
insert the adapter but in a different PCI slot.
Power on the PC and Vista should see it ans set it up.
The cd would not help you because the D-link Utility does not work in Vista.
I have read the the XP drivers alone would work, But try this first.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Please Help!!

You can try:

http://tinyurl.com/2hwst9

But I think that the problem is not with the driver itself, but possibly with the operating system and lingering instances of the device.. make sure you have uninstalled all previous versions of the device software AND the device itself in the Device Manager before reinstalling it..

I installed netgear adapter WG111v3 and I keep losing internet connection

I had the same problem and when checking the properties of the adapter under device Manager.

I found the under the Power Management Tab the option to

"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" was turned on.

Remove the check mark from this option and click OK.
