I just started getting this problem today. I'm not sure of the exact cause, but I suspect a short circuit in the center speaker channel. Ideas?

Try checking the volume on your subwoofer i had the same problem. I unplugged the system and had the same error message pop up. So i checked the volume on the subwoofer, and it was set to max, i set it to normal and i haven't had any problems since

There are 2 ways to check your volume

1...On the remote there is a button labeled "BASS" press it, and on the display it will tell you a number between -3 and +3, If no number appears then it should say either "MIN" or "MAX" if it's at max use the volume control on the remote to turn it down to "0"

2...On the remote press "SET UP"
.....Select the Volume icon by using the arrow keys, press "ok" or "enter" to access that icon
.....Select "Speaker Setup" using the arrow keys and enter button
.....Select Speaker Volume by pressing enter
.....scroll down to "SUBWOOFER" and make sure the volume is no higher than +4dB
....Once done press "SET UP" on the remote to exit the setup screen

*Note* - The speaker volume option can only be chosen when nothing is playing on the player, or the disc tray is empty, You also have to be in either, Ipod mode or DVD mode to access this menu.

Hope this solves your problem, and i apologize on the delay of this solution ^_^

Try differnt speakers, if they do not produce sound, amp channels may be blown and then you need to take it to a shop.

When i turn on my stereo system it shows "protect"

Hi,
Protect mode is an error code detected by the processor. A lot of possible fault is caused by this error code. This maybe external connection or internal problem. First dis-connect all the input/speaker/antenna connected in the unit. While it is unplug on the wall power it on for a min to drain all the stored electricity on the cap. After this you can try to plug it and power it on. If the symptom is still there this is an indication that you have an internal problem. If the unit works normally then the problem is between what you have been disconnected. The high chance of fault is the speaker wire or the speaker itself.
I've advice you to send it to repair shop to isolate the problem because the caused might coming from the bad power supply, fault in pre-amplifier stage, fault in output IC. This is quite technical.
Also check if the unit is under warranty before taking any action which will void the warranty.
Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day!

Dish 510 DVR that wont record properly or play paused TV show

Make sure that the software is correct. Should be P4.07
you can go into the DVR and replace the hard drive but I would suggest getting Dish Home Plan, Replace the receiver and then cancel the Home Plan. Talk to Dish Network and they will work with you.

Protector and "push Power"

Please check speaker wires should be properly connected and not touched / shorted.
Push Power Protect is error sign when unit got problem in Power Amp area and mostly its Power Amp Out IC failure.
I would suggest to ask Sony for warranty cover.

Yamaha NX-SW300 sub woofer

Yes, that type of connector is often used for a VGA signal for a computer monitor. But in this case it is an all-in-one connector Yamaha used in order to simplify the hookup of this home theatre system. Unfortunately, the subwoofer is only usable with the DVR-S300 receiver/DVD player.

Samsung Home Theatre "Protection Error"

i've had a similar problem where the fan stopped moving and the system gave the usual "protect" error. i think the IC's burned out on the amp board since the error was no longer there when i unplugged it. i ordered a new board off ebey for $25 shipped. make sure this is the problem by unplugging both the power and data cables from the amp circuit (the board with the big heatsink) and starting it. if it says starts normally then the problem is the amp circuit
