SOURCE: philips universal remote codes
For the universal remotes, most of the models have their own code proprietary set. There is no industry standard. You must look in the romote's instructions to have the proper code settings.
Not all universal remotes will work with all models of TV sets. The combinations of the protocols for the codes are in the many thousands!
You will find that with the universal remotes they are very limited to accessing the features in the set. The universal remotes are only good for the basic functions. You will need the original remote to do any serious operations and to access the internal menus of your set.
Call the manufacture support for your set to find out how you can order the original. You would be better off.

What is the source of input on tv mode? HD box? If yes then you will need to change the aspect ratio of the output video on the box not on the tv. I am positive that it will resolve the problem.
