Question about HP W2007 LCD Monitor
Backlight appears to be going dim. It's not as bright and brilliant as it used to be.

SOURCE: I have a HP w2007 20
1st check around the pedestal area on the back most of these are snapped on then you will find some screws to remove then use a knife or similar thin strong object to slide between the two half's of the shell and pry it apart it will pop are snap apart without much issue then you an get to work uncovering the power board and such the vga connection is removable with either a special nut driver or a pair of needle nose pliers turn the nuts and then also maybe the power connector as well then the board should come out and you can inspect for damage based on the damage you describe I bet you will need a new board E Bay will be your best bet at a store called Shop Jimmy, be careful if thescreen is cracked this is all pointless as you will get into some pricey repair to buy a new screen.
Hope this helps.

bill, if monitor not covered by warranty, the check out YOUTUBE for long 8-12 minute video clips of LCD monitor disassembly or LCD monitor repair to find out what the major cause of your monitors SYMPTOM that you described above. Here is a small hint for you. If you didn't see the displayed data on the BLACK lcd panel with the flashlight "trick" then you would know that the entire "switch-mode-power-supply" was in complete SHUTDOWN mode or even blown the "line-in fuse" for the monitor. Also try a visit to www. ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm and view some of their vids on repair of lcd SMPS/INVERTER supplys and cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp replacement. They also do the repairs and return shipping. Please rate this on fixya if this response was helpful. Bye for now. 12fixlouie

plumldk1, Watch some video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly" at youtube. Yes, parting the rear cover from the front plastic bezel is the hardest thing to do!!!! Also visit www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm. You might see some tricks to help get the thing apart. Are you positively certain that it's the "backlight" and not the "electronic ballast" that has failed? Will you find any swollen electrolytic filter capacitors on the SMPS board? 12fixlouie
