This file is apparently part of the Norton/Symantec package and it either failed to download or is corrupt.
This thread  may be of assistance to you as it involves the same file and problem:

I'm assuming that you're installing Norton from internet
This is a common problem during the installation with downloaded files.
Ask for the cd and try again

or

If you are installing this version on a previous version first use the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your previous Norton installation, and run the installation again.

If you are installing it from disk check that the disk is free from dirt/dust and scratches this could cause files to be read as corrupt because they cannot be read properly.

Hello,

Symantec is a Norton product the name is more easily recognized. If you can tell me what products you have installed like, Norton antivirus, firewall, backup etc.. I can help you localize the issue and remove the offending program or reinstall it.
To find this out please go into your control panel and then ad remove programs, there you will see a list of the programs installed alphabetically sorted.
Let me know and we will go from there.

Cheers!

So slow on start up, comp only 6 months old

It will be easy enough to prove whether it is the Norton or not. Make sure you have it registered with Symantec. Uninstall it using Symantec's Norton Removal Tool.

See how it performs. I don't expect much improvement, but at least you can go back to the vendor with some ammo. Hopefully they wil give you some satisfactory help and then you can reinstall the 360 and login to Symantec to reactivate it.

If it does improve to "new" condition...hmmm, I'll have to think about that.

A question: Where you surfing much before installing the Norton 360? There is always a chance you picked up some spyware/malware that is causing the problem. Comment back.

Hello,

I would suggest removing ALL detected Norton and Symantec products with the Norton Removal Tool for Norton 360 found here.

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2007080716223439?Open&docid=2005033108162039&nsf=tsgeninfo.nsf&view=docid

After the uninstall of all Norton and Symantec programs you will also want to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility found here. The download link is at the bottom of the More Information section,

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

After the utility is installed and ran you will want to remove all Norton and Symantec programs listed in the removal list.

After you remove the programs and restart you should be able to reinstall the Norton 360 program.

I hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks

Hello kellywhalin

First, welcome to the great big world of computing. It's really amazing out here. There's lots to learn so be patient w/ yourself and enjoy the ride.

---

You can find Symantec's (they're the manufacturer of Norton 360) article on this issue HERE.

I'm not sure, however, if this addresses a restore of data, etc. that was backed up to an online service.

I think it would be much safer for you to speak w/ a Symantec representative regarding restoring your data that was backed up to their online data storage.

We want to make sure that you don't accidentally restore files to locations on your hard disk that will usurp current system files, etc. and cause your system to crash ("wig out").

Please, go HERE for Symantec's free online chat service and speak w/ a support representative there.

Be sure to post back here to follow up w/ us and let us know what happened and if your problem was resolved, etc.
