Question about Black & Decker 19" Electric Lawnhog Mulching Mower with Rear Bag

1 Answer

Lawn mower R484P

I need a technical diagram of the springs and levers for the throttle. The mower was not responding to the throttle and when I looked at it the springs and levers are not attached to the bits they should be but as I have no idea where they should be I am stuck.
A diagram or photo would be great.
My email is jletchford@talk21.com if that helps.

Why not let Black & Decker dealer service take care of if for you?

I have used their service on my 14-year old Black & Decker mower on the few occasions that I needed repairs and paid a very small price.

I have a 17 HP 42" craftsman mower. When I disengage the blade lever, the blades do not fully disengage until I slow down the engine with the throttle lever. This has only begun recently. The tractor...

There are blade brakes, one on each blade pulley. You will need to check that the brakes are in good working order and that the springs holding them against the pulleys are in place. Also there is a spring to return the idler pulley to the neutral position. The spring could be broken or the idler pivot rusted not allowing it to return to fully neutral position. This should get you going down the right track. Hope this helps; please vote yes. Thank you.

Engine will not idle. runs very fast. will not run slow.

Don't leave the engine running that way - it can be quickly damaged. There is a "governor" that is designed to keep the engine from running too fast. Take off the hood, find the carburetor and look for the throttle lever attached to it. One end of the lever will be attached to a cable that is pulled by your hand throttle. The other end is supposed to have a spring attached and that goes to the governor. If the spring just popped off, put it back and see if that fixes it. If the spring is broken or missing, replace it. If the spring seems OK, look for debris jammed in the mechanism that the spring leads to. If there isn't anything obviously wrong you will need to take it to a mechanic unless you're prepared to do some deeper mechanical work. Good luck! Please rate my solution if helpful, thanks.

I need to how to connect the throttle to the carb on a briggs and stratton riding mower a diagram would be great.

Don't have a diagram. It's pretty simple, tho.

There is a throttle cable run from the throtle control lever on the dash down to the carburetor. There is a lever on the carburetor -- usually this has a hole in it where the end of the throttle cable hooks.

There should be a clamp in that vicinity to hold down the throttle cable housing to allow the cable inside to move back and forth without moving the cable housing,
