digital cameras do have a "shutter", kind of. IT is electronic, just powers on/of the sensor that captrures the image. Some digital cameras have regular swhutter also, that makes it possible to get real fast shutter speeds for flsh. Take off the lens and look inside, It is possible that the mirror is locked in the up position. Read your owners manual and see if there is a reset button for the camera. Remove the battery, tuen camera on/off switch 2-3 times, replace battery and look again. Try reset switch(if available). My Nikon has a mirror locxk up function available throough its menu. Read your owners manual and see if you have the same. If you can reead menu on LCD, and manual says you have mirror lockup, then try changing settings.
When operating any digital camera, the camera tries to capture the best focus and exposure for that particular scene. By pressing the shutter button half-way down, the focus and exposure is being set. There will be a green circle on the upper left hand corner of the screen, then your camera is ready to take the picture. Slowly depress the shutter the rest of the way down to take the picture.
to reset your caamera to default setting follows the steps.
1. press menubutton(which is the second button from down in left side of your camera )
2. screenpops up in view fiender.
3. select the custom reset option.
4. there select th reset option ond press ok button.
and now your camera is resetted to default settings.
sometimes in some cases the shutter blades gets stick if left unused for few time. thus no image is formed. try switching it on and off few times, otherwise, the problem may be due to faulty CCD or inoperative mechanism of the shutter assembly. In both the cases you have to get it repaired from the repair shop.
