Question about Dell Inspiron 8600 Notebook

Wireless setup problems

Confused :/ Hi! (2/15/12) I recently got a Dell 8600 that was (guessing) restored to factory settings), and have the following 2 problems. First...I'm not quite sure what to do with a USB drive, in order to get a wireless network up and working, and I'm guessing that the driver is not installed as well (I don't know why?) Also (in DEVICE MANAGER) 5 of my devices (ethernet controller, audio controller, modem, network controller, video controller) all have the yellow '?' .... I tried using all the CD's that came with my Dell 8600, hoping the drivers were on the disk, in order to install drivers and get rid of the yellow '?', but, in all cases windows could not locate the drivers. Basically...getting online is my main concern. Hoping for help.

You need access to a computer with Internet connection to download the drivers to an USB memory stick so you can install them on your Dell laptop.
You can download the device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on thislink to download the drivers: - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

My printer is connected to another wireless network which is not the same as my laptop how do i connect it to the right one?

I`ll guess You`ll have to connect your PC to the printer with the use of a usb cable.
Then run the Lexmark software (Lexmark printer home) or similar (don`t know what you are using?)... Go to "settings"; and choose wireless setup utility. You`ll have to manually set the SSID (the wanted wireless network) and the WIFI password for this network. Hope this will help.

Restore Dell Dimension 2350 PC Desktop to factory settings

Hi there,

If you have not reinstalled you OS yet you can still set the pc to factory settings using a couple of keystrokes. Turn off you pc. When you turn on the pc hold CTRL button and tap F11 this will open the Dell pc restore option. Just follow the wizard and it will set the pc to factory settings. Warning, this will delete you files. If it does not work, you may need to do it the long way using the setup CD's that came with it.

How do I lock my Belkin wireless router?

You can lock your router by setting a password to access it. This is done in your router setup, in the Wireless area. I prefer WPA-PSK [TKIP] for the ease of setup and password selections. This should keep unwanted access to your wireless signal.

Dell Inspiron 8600 Wireless connection driver Problem

I would check network connections in your control panel first and make sure your wireless connection is enabled. Next I would go to System in control panel and then go to device manager and check to see if the drive for the wireless is installed. May want to try here for the Driver download.

Keyboard problem with Inspiron 9300

Hi
As per your description of your problem it might be an issue related to the driver for the keyboard when the SP3 got updated.
You can access system restore and try to restore your computer. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084 follow this article to do a system restore.
Also please try this download and run those files before doing the system restore. This steps should resolve your problem
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/downloads/en/downloads_splash?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~mode=popup&file=142189

Try this bios update. This make sure that any recent changes that you made to the system setup or BIOS is restored to the factory default.
Make sure the ac adapter is connected while doing the bios update and also let me know if this does not resolve your issue. We have more steps to do as well.

Thank you
