Question about LG DLE7177 Dryer

1 Answer

GE PROFILE DRYER DPXR473EW0WW HEAT/TIMING ISSUE

My dryer wont heat on the Timed or EasyCare dial settings. It will only work at one point on the Cotton setting.
Also, the timing knob doesn't advance unless I use the Timed setting (but then with no heat). So the dryer just keeps running until I open the door.
Think it's the timer control or heat sensor?

I am sending you all the possibilities for your problem, check either of these causes ----and than let me know if it is solved----

Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

GE profile dryer model # DPXR473EW0WW wont turn off on auto mode. It will turn off when on timed dry mode and if there are no clothes in it.

A faulty timer will cause the condition you described
Sounds like you have a timer malfunction and will have to be replaced because timers cannot be repaired.
Be sure to replace with the same brand/type to keep the wiring correct. Otherwise the wiring will not be the same, and you will have to follow the timer instructions on replacing the wiring in the box with the timer.
If replacing the time I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you only remove one wire at a time, and then place that wire on the new timer. No mistakes that way.

GE Profile Electric Dryer Low Heat Problem

You may want to remove the back of the dryer to see if all of the element is glowing. Sometimes the element opens and then welds itself to the metal case, which would cause a partial, but not total loss of heat (slower drying time). If that is the case, part of the element will be glowing, and part of it will not.

Timer only works on Timed Dry Setting

Check your heating element. If one coil of the heating element is burnt out the dryer will heat on the remaining coil, but the timer will not advance in automatic dry.
