SOURCE: performance motherboard for Intel Quad Core Q66

Asus makethe majority of the board in the world. Intel makes most of the chips sets and CPUs, which you alread have.  Which model depends upon what features you want(What you are intending to do). Get the board with the most PCIe16 slots and tie them all together in addition to the one having the highest amount or Ram availableto run,and the fastest Front Side Buss speed. That should take care of you.  I had built one  with the Q6600 and used an MSI board with two 8800 video cards and 8GB RAM

Intel core 2 Quad Q6600 compatible with ECS P4M800PRO-M2

According to their website, no. The core 2 duo is supported, but not quad core. http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=674&CategoryID=1&MenuID=16&LanID=0
Look under the cpu tab.

E8400 or Q6600

personally i have the q6600 which is a quad core processor, all the others you listed were dual core, personally i use alot of programs all at once which is good if you have a quad core, but just for general music, data, and streaming, the e8400 is probably better for you, its a 3ghz processor.

Quad core support

The Q6600 is a monster chip (I have one), and I've never seen a socket 775 cpu not work, in a socket 775 motherboard, so I'd have an educated guess to say that yes, it would work.

However, the Q6600 can handle 3.6GHz with ease, and this motherboard seems quite low-spec for this class of component. I'd consider a new ASUS board, with a nice built in wifi connecting, PCI Express 2.0 support also.

You could then overclock to your hearts content then.

Regards,

Erik.
