Question about TV Receivers & DVRs

1 Answer

Humax PVR 9200T freezing picture and will not turn off.

Please can you advise about a problem that has just occured? The picture freezes after 30 secs from boot up and I am unable to turn off the PVR at the front switch, nor can I use the remote control either to record or to change channels etc.
Humax have been 'deafening in their silence' in response to my intial enquiry to them. The PVR will be 3 soon.

I did a Google search for this web page.

Thanks in anticipation

Exactly the same problem. My machine is about 2.5 years old.

Same here, was rock-solid on the old firmware. Did the upgrade early on this year and it's been like this ever since. Will lock within 30secs - 1min when coming out of standby and requires a hard power off/on to rectify. Very miffed.

I have the exact same problem, but the solution posted is no use as the box freezes within 3-6 seconds of the boot completion, so using the remote to reset is not an option.

Any ideas to get round this problem would be gratefully received, as i have a wife who's at my throat to get this solved.

    as above.

the 2 reset solution seems to work.  Box was a bit sluggish after but seems to have recovered now (prob downloading the EPG).

Unplug the aerial; switch the PVR On; if you have control via the remote do a reset to default settings thus:

1. press Menu on the remote
2. select Installation and enter default password of 0000 unless you have changed it
3. select Default settings and okay on YES
4. then turn if off again via the remote
5. plug the aerial back in and it will scan for channels, save them of course.

I got help on this from other forums but saw your request for help. This worked for me.

Why I can't get my machine to record more than one programme, i.e. it will not record a series of programmes?

In the Recording menu of the Humax PVR-9300T (or (9200T), if the start or end times are set to anything other than "On Time", series recording is disabled.

PVR problem.

We have now used warrantee 3 times to get a PVR that does not freeze. None were your brand, but the reboot process was to cut the power to the unit to reset. On each one we took back, this became progressively worse and such a pain. The unit we have now is a Topfield TRF-7160. The only catch is it only has 500 gig drive which is a bit limiting but of all the things that annoyed us this has the least. You can also preset 5 minutes ealy start and 10 minutes on the back end to beat channel 7 slackness on program times. I loves the 128 speed fast forward also to push the ads.
What I am saying is they are very flakey items it seems.
Just by the way - we went through a antena problem with the mast head amplifier when the amps power supply failed, Just check that also.

My Humax Duovisio PVR-9200T often freezes completely and has to be switched off at mains for a few seconds. Or commands from remote (eg subtitles, menu, channel change) take minutes to respond. Or...

Remove the Aerial.
Switch on or if it's frozen switch off at the mains and on again.
Press Menu
Installation and enter password - 0000
Select 'Default Setting' and OK
Select 'YES' and OK to restore all settings to factory default.
Confirm again to start loading, enter the password again and it will start scanning for channels but won't find any.
Replace the aerial and press OK to rescan and now it will find channels. On completion press SAVE then EXIT on your keypad.
You won't lose any saved programmes but you will have to re-schedule your recordings.

Humax PVR 9200T nolonger responding to controls on machine or remote.

1. Power off at the rear
2. Disconnect Aerial
3. Switch ON
4. If the unit can then be switched on carry out a Default setting
5. When the unit restarts insert the aerial cable so there is signal when the auto search appears.

Also, believe it or not, check your batteries in the remote control (seriously).

I have a Humax 9200T 160GB. It freezes after being powered up for 1-2 minutes. I removed the Antenna cable and SCART to TV and it powered successfully for hours. Connecting it back together it freezes...

Removed the aerial cable which enable the unit to operate.
In installation menu selected "Default settings". Once this had completed, I powered down the unit, I added the aerial cable and powered on the unit. Unit then searches for channels and stores them "save" tab. Issue resoved.

HUMAX PVR-9150T : REMOTE CONTROL DOES NOT TALK TO BOX - This has only happened recently and is not a battery issue. The box displays green lights on ''standby'' and ''tv'' I have tried reset, but cannot...

I also have this same problem. Freezes after about 30 seconds to a minute after switching on. Think it is possibly related to the program listings sent to it. May be some error. How do I fix though???

Humax pvr 9200T

Hello Fixya Team,

I did solve the problem with the EPG not updating quick enough when you power on.
If once you power on you switch channels to BBC1 youwill find the EPG updates quite quickly.

Hope this helps out.
