Unfortunately the problem is in the switch mechanism, and will need to be replaced to correct the problem. My sense is it would be cheaper to replace the kettle than trying to find somebody to repair it.

It must be the kettle causing the problem from what you say. If th e kettle is new the problem should reduce with use but if it is old it will get worse (possibbly due to rubber washers/seals perishing)

There's several home remedies you can try: Try 50% "White Vinegar", 50% Hot Water or 2 Denture tablets in warm water over night or Baking soda in warm water.
