Hello,

You will need to remove the cover and locate the jumper that controls your BIOS setting. (Sometimes located near the back of the server board by the power supply. Check your owners manual for exact location.)

Move the jumper the BIOS reset, power on your server and follow the onscreen instructions. When complete, move the BIOS jumper back to regular position (1 and 2) and reboot.

Good Luck

"BIOS NOT INSTALLED"

Hello,

If your server boots and then displays this error, it may be referring to one or more adaptor(s) installed and their BIOS need updating. (Though you do not need them for the server to function.) If your server will not boot due this error, you need to update the firmware via usb or network connection.

Good Luck.

No display on screen

Several things to be checked -
Does the monitor work on another computer?
Have you tried both video ports - front & back?
Can you get into BIOS with the appropriate key ("Del" or "F2") and does this show a screen?
Can your monitor display the native resolution of the server?
There are various links below which you could use to find out more about the problem ;-
http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/product/system_x/system_x3550_m3?productContext=-208896503
or

If you still cannot get a display to show on your monitor, then the bad news may be that either the graphics component on the motherboard, the motherboard itself, the memory or the CPU may have given up the ghost. First see if you can get a compatible graphics card that you know works fitted into an expansion slot and see if that will give you a screen. Otherwise one by one replacement of the components may be the only option.

Planar fault IBM 3550 M3

Ok, That' s a motherboard issue. You would have to replace motherboard...

Workaround:
1: Set server in minimum configuration(single processor and two RAMs)
2: Remove any PCI cards added in server
3: Turn on server check for issue
If plannar fault appear, you have to replace motherboard..

Thanks

I want to reset the BIOS password for IBM e server x series 226

Hello,

here is the solution: you need to open the computer and get to the motherboard.
Here is your board: (full size picture here)
migr-58050_5.jpgTo clear CMOS(JCMOS1) data, you need to put jumper on pins 2 and 3 with power cords removed from server. When you have done so, put the jumpers back and then put power cords back too.
