They are probably available at: http://www.mundocorp.com/mx6448.html but this is not a task for a DIYer.

Unless you have the tools/experience to dis-assemble / re-assemble, I strongly recommend you have repaired by a competent shop or contact me (consult@jasb.com) pls reference this response.

You can sometimes find replacement hinge sets on EBay.

MX6448 power

If these are the only symptoms, then chances are the problem is either (1) a bad battery that is no longer retaining a charge or (2) the charger is not charging either because it is bad or the plug on the laptop is broken (which is repairable but maybe costly due to labor cost (approx 1-1.5 hr task)). I presuming it is not under warranty.

If there are other symptoms, it would require testing to determine; not a task for a DIYer except if it's a bad battery or bad charger.

Gateway left hinge broke

Definately an easy fix.

I suggest looking on eBay for a donor chassis.
Sometimes they can be had relatively cheap CLICK HERE (this one has both hinges broken however) - and sometimes just the parts you are looking for are available CLICK HERE (this is for the RHS one though).

An entire donor PC is adviseable, because usually the repair is not just the hinge that broke - as the rest of the lid is plastic!

Once the trim above the keyboard is pried off, you will see the monitor cable, and hinge screws.

The trim around the monitor must be dis-assembled and pried into 2 parts.
Then the hinge & Support are either screwed into the side of the screen, or the back of the lid.

Most look like this...

Replace reverse of removal.

HERE is a link that will describe it better and give you a visual reference.

Once the screen is free of the chassis - its time to remove the little rubber scerw covers in the lid, and disassemble.

Good Luck!! Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated!!

Gateway 200arc broken hinges

Solution #1 is not accurate. You can find a good number of replacement hinges on Ebay for around $40. The repair is not difficult and can be done yourself :)

The biggest removable door held on by about 6 screws on the bottom of your laptop is what you need to remove. Once inside you will see your heatsink! Very easy to access, I wish you luck.

Replacing the whole monitor screen and bezel

Usually there is a plastic cover that snaps off right about the keyboard that covers the hinges. It is sometimes screwed from the bottom of the notebook thought. Once that is removed you should have a clearer view of what needs to be done. Sometimes there is a few screws from the bottom or back of the system that hold the hinges and sometimes the screws are on top of the hinges. You should also see all the cables that go from the screen to the system, unplug those. Hopefully that is all you need to do, but sometimes you have to remove the keyboard and palmrest to get the screen off. Good Luck!
