Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

AppHangXProcB1 is causing several of my programs to freeze.

It happens mostly when I try to copy and paste, sometimes between programs...sometimes within a program. It seems the computer is searching for this file(?) to complete the copy operation.

I work with Windows 7. The programs affected are: Firefox, WordPerfect 5X, Photoshop Elements 8, Eudora 7.1.9 and Corel PDF Fusion. I will wait until it freezes again and copy the message here.

PS: I did notice the reference to Elements Organizer; I reloaded PhotoShop Elements, but it made no difference.

    Is anyone working on this?

  • Toni Feb 23, 2012

Not really. For one thing, the answer was specific to Windows Vista, and I work on Windows 7. Not sure if it would make a difference, but I don't want to experiment. For another thing, and probably the main reason, it was waaay too complicated. I will probably end up taking it to my local computer repair place. Thanks anyway for the effort.

The fix will work on either windows 7 or vista. However, if you have everything backed up, save yourself some money and do a full factory restore on the computer. This will set it up to the software that was loaded when you first open the box. HP has the factory restore built right on the hard drive. All you need to do is hit the correct function key during the HP spash screen. On most HPs during the spash screen it will tell you accross the bottom what function key to hit (F10 I think for most models).

How to Prevent my Computer from Freezing?

Freezing can have several causes.
A program calls the cpu in a wrong way, or the cpu is overheating, and more possibilities.
1. Overheating: after a certain time of operation it just freezes. Try cleaning the inside of the computer. Be careful for static electricity, which might kill your CPU.
Look at some instruction videos at Youtube.

2. Does it always happen when you start a certain program ?
Then the best thing to do is to install Process explorer and investigate what was happening just before it freezes:
Try this:

Good luck investigating,

What is AppHangXProcB1 in my cutter plotter

What kind of plotter. Reading the error it appears that some process is freezing up. This can be caused by a corrupt print job, bad driver. First step you want to take is to update the firmware on the plotter.

I have a word document with several paragraphs perfectly done, but when I copy and post to yahoo to send as an email the format changes and there are wide spaces between the paragraphs and sentences but...

Word inserts formatting instructions that many other programs can't read properly and sometimes it helps to copy the text into a program that doesn't like Notepad and then copy it again and past it into other simple programs.

Notpad removes most complicated formatting instructions.

You may also have to tell your Yahoo or other program that the text you are inserting is normal text, because when you insert it it may be in Yahoo's heading mode format.

How can i unhighlite the text in macbook word 2008

Just wondering if anyone else was having issues with Microsoft Word from MS Office 2008, where you open the application, you type a few sentences, and the application freezes with the spinning circle of death that won't go away until you click the dock where it says "application not responding" and do a force-quit? You can leave the circle spinning for 10-20-30 minutes, and it never goes away.

Now for the weird part--this error only happens for me when I'm using a specific document on my computer. I can open Word, start a new document, type several paragraphs of text, and it works fine. But I've been working on an existing paper for about two months that all of a sudden started causing these freezes/crashes when editing it. It's about 30 pages roughly, no images, no big inserts that would take up a lot of memory (116 kb in size). And up until today, there were no problems. So why all of a sudden can't I edit anything on this paper without freezing the program?! I downloaded the Microsoft Office 2008 Service Pack 1 that was just released after this problem started, and ran all the recent Java and program updates through Software Update with computer restarts. I even copied the text from the Word document I was working on, pasted it into a new document, tried saving it as both .doc and .docx, and again the program still freezes when working with that text in a new file. This one baffles me. It's like the text within a document is somehow freezing the application. One thing I did notice is that the freezes seem to happen when I'm scrolling using a mouse wheel. Not always, but quite a bit. I suppose this is some memory issue related to several pages of text that the program can't render or process when you add new lines of text or scroll, but again, I can't figure why this paper I've been working on for months all of a sudden decided to start freezing Word today. Can you really only have 30 double-spaced pages of text in Word before it crashes?

Looks like I've found my reason to switch to Open Office, since I'm 3-4 days out from a

I am tyring to copy and paste but it won't work

What program are you in that you are trying to copy and paste? If it is a PDF file, they will not allow you to do it. You would have to convert it, then you could.

In most other programs you can 1.) select the part you want to copy 2.) click Edit, Copy. 3.) Go to where you would like to paste it 4.) click Edit Paste.

There are also shortcut keys that work in some cases where Edit Copy/Paste does not. To try this, 1.) select where you want to copy 2.) hold the Ctrl key and press C 3.) and then go to where you want to paste, and hold the Ctrl key and press V.

Please let me know if you need further assitance.

My laptop freezes shortly after starting, sometimes it won't even get past the windows menu

there could be several causes for this. The vents could be clogged causing it to overheat, the hard drive could be going bad, the cooling fan could be bad If you have a bootable CD, try to boot from it and see if the same thing happens, if it does, then its definately hardware related.
