Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook
Screen appears with ghosting, horizontal and vertical lines on bottom 2/3. Can jiggle screen and usually get it ok. I do not know how to check the connection and Dell wants 489.00 to fix it. Also--can I install a new screen easily?
You can try to reseat the LCD video connector on the motherboard. Follow these steps:
1) Remove the AC power and Battery.
2) Open the LCD display all the way flat.
3) Pry up on the notch on the right side of the keyboard bezel. This is the plastic cover that has the power button on it.
4) Unplug the LCD cable and reseat it into the connector. This is the round black cable that has a little ground screw.
If this doesn’t resolve your problem then you probably need a new LCD display panel. To replace the LCD panel you have to remove the LCD section from the laptop and disassemble the LCD plastics to get to the panel.
