Keyboard spacebar sticking

Some time ago we dropped a dell type keyboard onto our wooden floor which caused the spacebar to jump off. It fits back quite easily however it sticks when pushed. No amount of refitting has helped.

It has the ref cn-oj4623-37172-4an-004v on it's bottom.

The board is the type that has a centre connection and two others, one at each side on t eh underside of the bar.
It is not the type that has metal bars that swing around below to be reseated. It does have a floating plastic frame underneath but this is reasonably fixed and has only a little play.

I have refitted the space bar several times thinking I may not have seated it correctly all to no avail.

Can you assist.

Just solved it, after a bit of tinkering...

the prongs of the floating plastic frame need to sit inside the clips of the spacebar key, you can't just clip it back on with the prongs either up or down. It's fiddly, you need a paperclip or thin screwdriver to do it, but it's stopped the sticking problem.

I was having the same problem with my Dell Keyboard. I finally realized that the plastic "bar" that is attached to the underside of the spacebar needs to be removed from the spacebar, set on the keyboard, with the two top tabs under the "hooks" of the keyboard frame, then snap the spacebar key on top, pushing it to snap into the keyboard frame and into the bar.

When I type a letter on keyboard it keeps repeating the letter

The key might be sticking down, which is probably a defect in the product. I tested an ihome keyboard (Bluetooth) and everything except the spacebar was prone to sticking itself down, no pop spill or nothing. So, I recommend to return the keyboard if you still have the receipt and get a Bluetooth Apple keyboard instead, as ihome is good for their docks, but their keyboards suck!

Acer spacebar types bv why? how do i stop it?

Hello,

If it not under warranty I would suggest to open the laptop and reseat the Keyboard cable. Also it might just be that the keyboard is simply faulty - as the space bar is close to bv so maybe it was damaged some time ago. The last assumption I would have that liquid has been spilled onto the keyboard - It stuck bv and space together and everytime you type space, the key that are hooked with the dried liquid come down with it.

On booting up, computer can not load keyboard system.

One possible problem is that your PS2 keyboard port at the back of your PC is ruined. In time, those so called "outlets" become loose specially the ones with cables which usually got pulled or tangled and make the port strained and the contacts get loose.
If that is the case, you might need to replace the keyboard port, or just stick with your usb keyboard.

Keyboard space bar

only two possibilities, first is the rocker springs at each end or the bar are causingit to not make contact. or the bubble switches under the keyboard. I had a similar problem on an inspiron 6400 and I had to VERY CAREFULLY remove the keyboard, then the button to reach the bubble switch which had lost the plastic bushing that covered the shorting contact, good luck given the insane price that dell wanted for a new keyboard fixing it myself was the option.
