Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

PROBLEM WITH TABLET CRUZ READER R101

To update the firmware you can follow the directions here http://www.ehow.com/how_7890482_update-cruz-reader-firmware.html

I used a similar method when I had my Cruz Reader R101. This process is called "side-loading"
You will have to download a file to your computer (not your tablet), remove the SD media card from your cruz, then transfer the downloaded file from your computer to it, then replace the SD card to your cruz.

Also you can download the user manual here http://www.retrevo.com/support/Velocity-R101-Tablets-manual/id/23894dj696/t/2/ which shows how to remove the card, and this is a great reference to keep on your reader. For example, page 14 shows how to transfer files to and from your reader. Good luck!

Hi, my reader is saying "android.process.acore has stopped" Force closing won't work. I know firmware update via zip file is available but it's midnight here and I don't have an sd card handy....

Sorry to hear your are having issues with your Cruz Reader. I have a Cruz Reader R101. Unfortunately you have to update via the SD card for the Cruz Reader. It doesn't do a firmware update from the USB cable.
If you don't want to try and update it now you could also try to just restart it. If you can't get it to restart normally you can remove the back cover and unplug the battery, then plug it back in.

APPLICATION SETTINGS(in process com.android.settings) is not responding every time I try to connect wifi I have a linksys wireless router what is my problem husband purchased this cruz ereader last week...

Try set of steps for your connectivity issue on your Cruz Reader:

1. Check out VM Cruz reader support site online here first!

2. Double check that the router's SSID is broadcasting openly when first setting up your reader. You may return the router to it's password protected setting after the initial connection.

3. Check to ensure the password entered on your reader is correct as entered. Do this by clicking on the Menu button (upper left menu bar, last icon on the right, looks like a box with lines on it)- then select "Settings" then go to "Wireless and Networks", then select "Wi-fi settings". Select your router from the list and re-enter the password selected on your router.

4. If the above steps fail, delete your router from the Wi-Fi list in the Cruz Reader's Menu. If the Wi-fi network menu shows that it is still scanning even though the the router ID is deleted- power off the Cruz Reader, wait about one minute and power the Reader on again. Then re-add the router.

5. Last resort: Call Velocity Micro at 1-800-296-4312
9 AM - 10 PM EST, M-F and request assistance from the company directly. There are other resources for do-it-your-selfers, like the website Slatedroid (Click here for the Cruz Reader series), but a degree of tech know-how, and/or patience is required.

Good Luck!

I turned the Cruz Reader off and I can not get it to turn back on. I tried to charge it but no light will come on. Any suggestions?

Taken from Velocity Micro Support Center:
What should I do if my Cruz device will not turn on?

If your Cruz device will not turn on or freezes, follow the steps below to resolve this:
  • Locate the Cruz RESET location between the Power Button and mini-USB port.
  • Using the straightened end of a small paperclip, insert it perpendicularly into the RESET hole and hold for 5 seconds.
  • Turn on your Cruz
If the steps above do not allow you to power on again, then continue with the steps below:
  • Remove the Cruz from the charger and eject the External SD card.
  • Place the Cruz face down on the desk, starting at the External SD slot, pull off the back cover of your Cruz.
  • In the lower left corner of the back of your Cruz, locate the battery power cable. Unplug the cable and replug it again.
  • Return the back cover to your Cruz and snap it into place.
  • Re-insert your External SD card and power on your Cruz.
