Not supported mode error

When hooking up my hp pc to my 32" Samsung lcd tv I can see the boot screens but not the window log on screen. It keeps saying not supported mode. Is this a resolution prolem and how can I fix it if I can't get a screen up to prompt changes?

hi, Yes this is a resolution issue. try a lower resolution for the TV desktop. Lower it.

    Try 600 x 800 first.
    But you cant see yet.
Please tell me what version of windows you have and if you have a graphics CARD installed that is capable of DUAL desktop/multi monitor functions.

    Thank you *s*

Hi, boot up to an F8 and select safe mode. While there change your screen settings to 800X600.

The available resolutions in the windows operating system has to be compatble with the TV screen you are hooked up to. try lower settings first.
Thank you and god luck.

Why is the screen black on windows 8 cannot start computer

There can be several reasons why your laptop screen is going black after logging into Windows. To start with the troubleshooting, you can see if you are able to use Safe Mode to boot into your Windows 8. To know how to boot in Safe Mode, you can refer to the following Microsoft link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809468

If you are able to boot in Safe Mode, you can use "msconfig" to detect the issues that may be preventing your system from performing normally. To get a better understanding about what is msconfig and how to use it, you can refer to the following Microsoft support page:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/using-system-configuration#1TC=windows-8

If following the steps in the above mentioned link does not help, you can refer to the following HP support page for some more troubleshooting options:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03518165

Hope this will help you.

Check monitor is set to correct input (VGA, DVI, HDMI) if it goes to sleep instantly.

Otherwise screen resolution is set too high. Boot into safe mode by pressing F8 during boot. Login and lower screen resolution.

Hi possible the Video card is busted on the LCD, get in BIOS see if the screen will still remain Bak if it does then the LCD is busted, get in safemode if the issue is still the same then it is the LCD but if there is Video in safe mode the issue is the video card
To get in safe mode keep on tapping F8 as soon as you power the Laptop To get in BIOS keep on tapping Del or F1 as soon as you power the Laptop

How to i reset my password to get on my hp compaq 9030

if you are talking about the log on password for windows xp, when booting up, right before the windows XP logo comes up and it shows that its loading, press F8 like 3 times every second till a screen with writing comes up. If unsuccessful, keep trying, it should come up in 2 - 3 tries. Choose to boot in Safe Mode. when the logging screen comes up, log on Administrator. When logged on, go into control panel - user accounts - click on the account you want to remove password from and remove it. Restart PC, log in to the account, and that's it.
