I purchsed a new LG Monitor and installed it to my 4 year old Gateway Computer, now have no sound coming from my Bose speakers! HELP?

I answered this but the solution did not post (thanks to Verizon). When you installed the LG software, were you prompted to change any settings? The LG software may have hijacked your normal sound output to your Bose speakers

How to use speaker in computer?

Does your motherboard has an onboard sound card? If it has then read your motherboard manual especially the audio section of the manual where the topic is described how and where to plug in which audio jacks coming out from you speakers (speaker system) to which part of the external audio ports usually located at the rear end of your computer case. You need to install the sound card drivers to activate audio properties of your computer of course, to actually use the speakers.
You can also use the front panel audio port of your computer case where you can connect your speakers to as well.
In case your motherboard did not come up with sound card installed you can always install an external sound card and then connect the speakers to the proper external audio ports of the card. Just read your motherboard or sound card manual. It is all there.

No sound coming from speakers but coming from laptop

Go to your control panel from the start menu.

Select Sounds Icon. Here you will find a list of "installed" and built-in speakers. You need to select your newly installed speakers, and calibrate them (or test) them.

It is all right there in the Sounds Control Panel.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

(also, try restarting the computer and make sure all volume resources are not muted, and are turned up enough)

No sound comming from speakers for monitors

it could be:
  • the sound has been muted,
  • you need to re-install the sound driver for the sound card or chip, un install first
  • make sure you have the speakers plugged into the green socket and it is turned on ,most speakers have a small light that comes on when the power is on
  • the sound card or chip has died.
good luck & please rate my efforts
