Computer hardware how to open bios setting in my acer aspire 4720z laptop i tried esc,del,f1,f2,f12,f10 but nothing works can please tell how to reinstall operating system .when i put cd in cd rom nothing happens...........when i open computer.........it starts up but none of the application respond to me ....iscan it for viruse but nothing sorted out ...........please help...................

Ashu, not familiar with the 4720z model and I couldnt find it on the manual downloads section of the website.

Have you tryed pressing F11 as this brings up the boot menu on my Aspire and allows you to select the device you wish to boot from.

Failing that i have found this site on google which will sell you a replacement manual.

Do the following:
1. Turn on computer by holding down power button while pressing the ESC key.
The machine will beep, then display: Check System, then press [F1] key.
2. Release ESC key
3. Press F1 key

You should now have the BIOS screen

Hi, How do I restore an Acer Aspire 1 D260-A to its factory settings? Whenever I do Alt + F10, it either resets or I hear a LOUD bleeping sound help.


I am not familiar with that particular laptop but generally when any computer is booting up, before Windows starts, you can press a key (usually F2 or F12 or ESC or DEL) and go into the BIOS (built in operating system) and there usually is a setting there to restore defaults.

Usually you can acces BIOS by pressing
"DEL" Key duing system startup.

But it also depend on the BIOS manufacturer and version on how to access BIOS

I'm giving you all the key which normally used to access BIOS.

Dear Don't worry, there are some options you will have to press or check one by one "F1or F2 or F8 or F10 or F12 or del. Now, You can enter in CMOS setup.

Cmos setup screen


If you're trying to get to the bios set up, when the initial Toshiba screen comes up it will tell you what to press for the set up towards the bottom of the screen.

Acer - Aspire, Power, Veriton, Extensa, Ferrari, TravelMate, Altos
  • Press Del or F2 immediately after powering on.

Compaq - Presario, Prolinea, Deskpro, Systempro, Portable
  • Press F10 while the cursor in the top right corner of the screen is blinking.

The following companies are either closed for business or no longer manufacture or support mainstream computers systems so verifying the following BIOS access information is nearly impossible. I have included what I could dig up for anyone who might be interested:
ARI / ALR / AST (Advantage) - Press the Ctrl+Alt+Esc or Ctrl+Alt+Del keys.
Cybermax - Press the Esc key.
Tandon - Press the Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys.
