Question about Lexmark X4650 InkJet Printer

Lexmark 3600-4600 stops at 99% and has question marks on ink

I tried to print and when i do the progress page comes up and loads and has questions marks where there are usully the ink status. I changed both ink cartrages last week so i know that i am not low on ink. It then stops at 99% and doesn't print. I have restarte my printer and my computer...HELP

Make sure to install the new photoconductor 1st.

1) Power off the printer using the switch in the back.
2) Open the front cover.
3) Press and hold the Continue button (Big silver button with Diamond shape symbol) and power the printer On (turn the switch back to ON).
4) When you see the last light i.e. error light on solid, release the Continue button and close the front cover.
5) When you close the cover you will see all the top 3 lights on solid.
6) Press the cancel button with X symbol for 4 times very slowly till you see toner low light (i.e. second light from top) on solid.
7) Press the continue button and wait until you see the light sequence.
8) Press the cancel button and wait until you see the light sequence.
9) Finally power off the printer using the switch in the back (IMPORTANT= wait 1 minute) and power it back on to exit the configuration mode.

I found a similar error on a Vista 32-bit OS when I tried to print using notepad. There's no dot before dll.


I wouldn't suggest simply deleting the printer from the Control Panel's "Printers and Faxes" folder since that will still leave the printer drivers behind.

Try this instead:

1. Make sure you have the installer CD of the printer, and if not try to download it from the manufacturer's website. Make sure you choose appropriately if you're using Vista or it can cause problems. If you don't do this, Windows won't always download the proper driver for you.

2. Go to Start > Programs (or All Programs) > (Printer Brand) > Uninstall to make sure it's uninstalled, and also check it from the Add/Remove Programs (or Program Features).

3. Restart PC.

4. Use the installer CD, or downloaded installer, to reinstall printer.

5. Test printing from different programs.

If after all of these are done and you still have the same problem (unlikely, but hey, anything can happen), you need to call either the printer or computer technician. Most likely the first.

I tried this process and it printer worked fine.

SOURCE: ink marks on paper

seems that the Print roller needs a cleaning. get it cleaned as there might be some extra ink on the roller.

Mine was doing this too, try several things:
Disable AVG. Aparently mine was conflicting with the printer. I need new anti-virus software now :(

Trying to print. gets to 7% and stops. Ink cartridges show question marks. For Lexmark X4650

remove the cartridge and clean all the contact points on it (not the ink spitting part) and reinsrt it. Use a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.

I haven't had a problem with my printer until now. I tried to print a couple of documents. Once I click print, the printer status window shows questions marks on the ink level icons and the downloading...

It could be the Print Spooler service on your computer. Make sure the Printer Spooler status is Enabled/Started. Refer to this article on How to Restart or Reset the Print Spooler in Windows. Before trying to print a test page, make sure there are no print jobs stuck in the print queue. Hope this help. Thanks.

The printer says ink cartridges are 99% and 67% full but when I try to print a message comes up to order ink and the pictures of the cartridges have yellow question marks on them and nothing will print. I...

First, make sure there are no print jobs stuck in the queue. On the computer, go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. Scroll down the items and make sure these services are "Started":
  • Print Spooler
  • lxdx

If status doesn't say Started, right click on the item and choose Properties. Choose Automatic for Startup type. Choose Started for Service status. Hit Apply then Ok to save the settings. Retry printing. If problem continues, contact Lexmark technical support. Thanks.

My printer sounds like it's printing, but the paper comes out bla

Most likely cause is the ink cartridge needs replacing / refilling. Did it stop printing part way through a page?

There were times that the printer would give you that message. In order for the computer to properly recognize the printer, here's what you are going to do:

1. Remove the cartridge from the printer.
2. Turn the printer off and unplug it from the wall outlet.
3. Put the cartridge back while the printer is off.
4. Give for about 2 minutes.
5. Turn the printer back on.

Lexmark z640 has stopped printing - goes through the motions but no ink on page

Some third party cartridges will not work with your printer as they are remanufactured from used cartridges.
It is more expensive to buy genuine Lexmark ink, but atleast you know it will work.
You may try reinstalling the driver before buying new ink.

If you brought new Lexmark cartridges please change it as it comes with one year warranty but before try to perform a self test, (i.e make a copy) if it works then try printing , if get the error then change the cart.........................
