Question about Panasonic NV-GS50 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Card is "write-protected"

I loaned my camera to a friend and now after I download still pics from the memory card I cannot delete them. A Windows pop up says they ca't be deleted as they are write protected. Is this just a setting that I can change or is a new card needed. (My friend has less of an idea than me!!) Cheers

Re: Card is "write-protected"

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Why is card protected

There is a small slider on the side of the card to enable write protection - you have probably inadvertently slid this to the "write protect" position. It should be in the position shown in the pic to allow writes.

My flip camera says its empty but when I try to record it says its full??

Your memory card may think it's full if you've been deleting pics from it when it's in your PC and not in the camera.

If you've offloaded all the pics you want to from your memory card, put it back in your camera and "reformat" the card - there should be instructions how to do this in your camera manual. (If you've misplaced your manual you can likely find an online version on the website of your camera manufacturer). Hopefully this will fix your problem.

From now on, (even if you have to buy a new memory card), don't do any editing or deleting of pics directly on the memory media while it is in your PC (or Mac). Offload your pics to a file of their own on the PC (you can edit pics from that file). Then put the memory card back into the camera, verify that you did indeed successfully offload the pics to the PC (with the media card out of the PC), then delete the pics from the card while it's in the camera.

Reformat the memory card periodically (in the camera) after you've offloaded your pics (reformatting will erase all pics so you've gotta be sure you captured them elsewhere) to maintain the 'health' & full functionality of your memory card.

How do you recover accidentally deleted video files from sony webbie HD?

First of all, do not save any new file to camera's memory card.

Take out memory card, and connect it to computer using a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer.
Download asoftech data recovery software
Install and open the data recovery software, select the memory card, and click 'Next' button.

You can take the memory card out from Sony Camera, and then connect the memory card to computer with a card reader, you can then download a data recovery software to scan the memory card and recover lost photo and video files

Need to delete memory

You need to remove the memory card from the camcorder and place it into a pc or photo shops computer. This will allow you to view the saved items on the memory card. You can then save these to disc and delete the contents on the card.

I have a similar problem. I pop the card out and back in and that solves it. Kind of annoying, but it works.

Memory card

When you want to transfer pics off of your memory card you have several options. Some newer model computers have memory card slots built in and you can just pop yours into the pc and download on your computer, or you can use the usb cable included with your camera and plug it directly to your pc. I dont know about transfering to disc. My DVD CAM will only take a picture to disc or to card, but I cant transfer one to the other. if any of this is confusing, you can just take your memory card to walmart or any photo store, so they can develop them.
