You need to have numlock on - even on a laptop. It's not very helpful like that because you typically can't use half the keyboard. Anyway once NumLock is on select PC or CAL. In CAL mode just type your calculation, get the result and press SEND to deliver the result to the PC, wherever you are typing. If you press PC mode the screen changes on the LS-120 and keypresses are sent through directly as you type them with no calculating done (like a numeric keypad).
